"Is it utterly pathetic that I've been in love with the same person for oh I don't know the last seventy years."
"Nah It's poetic."

"I did it, I did it. It worked" I yelled at Howard as I ran out of the enlistment office, my paper tightly clenched in my fist.
"They took you" he asked a look of shock and happiness plastered on his face.
"Yes" I said proudly showing him the papers which had the red A1 stamped on it.
"What does this mean, you off to kill some Natzi's" Howard asked. We slowly began walking down the street no particular destination in mind.
I laughed hard, thinking back to what doctor Erskine said to Steve "no of course not, I'll be in a special unit working with a partner. They'd never let a women fight on the front line."
"Woah wait, you sure you signed up for the military."
"Yes of course it was the military."
Howard stopped walking and grabbed my shoulders "what happened in there."
"So I went in there for the medical and the doctor got a little handsy to say the least. So I punched him across the jaw."
"You punched a doctor across the jaw" Howard almost yelled.
"Just because he's a doctor and a man that does not mean he can touch me where he pleases."
"A lady who can throw a punch. Attractive" Howard mused.
"Still not going to work Howard" I said In a song song voice and continued to walk down the empty street.
After a few seconds something must of clicked in his mind for he called "Hey wait up" when he was next to me (slightly red in the face) he spoke "so ya punched the guy in the face then what."
"Oh right, well what I didn't realise was that there were two senior military officers there looking at the new recruits, they heard the commotion and came to see what was going on."
"And yet they still accepted you" Howard said teasing me.
"I'm getting to that part" I huffed, I stared at him before determining that he he wouldn't interrupt me again "once I explained what happened they took me to a private room. I was certain I was about to be arrested-"
"But you weren't."
I glared at Howard "clearly no, they told me they needed more women like me in the world, they asked if I still wanted to sign up, which I did so they told me they had a special unit they wanted to put me in. They gave me a date and time in a packet said they'd send me a uniform and see me then. After making sure I had a clean health history they stamped my forms and that was that" as I finished I noticed we were approaching mine and James's house.
"Well congratulations."
"Thanks Howard if it wasn't for you I never would of done it" I have him a quick hug before pulling away. "This is me" I said gesturing to the house.
"You live here."
"Yeah well not everyone can be a millionaire" I shrugged and walked towards the door "I'll see you soon Howard and again thank you" I called to him before unlocking the door and slipping inside.
Ever since James and Steve had left for war I had been locking the door with a double bolt. I dropped my keys down on the side and was about to go to the kitchen when I saw a white envelope on the floor caught my eye. I picked it up wondering who who it was. It couldn't be James he wouldn't write again so soon. My heart beater a thousand miles a minute when I saw who it was address to: Dotty Barnes.
I rushed to the kitchen table and ripped the letter open eagerly wanting to know what was written inside.
Dotty, I'm sorry I haven't wrote earlier, honestly there hasn't been much time but I had to make sure you were alright. I don't know if your wondering about me but if you are I'm ok. It's not easy but then again if it was everyone would be here and it wouldn't of taken me this long to be here.
I miss home though, I miss Bucky....I miss you. I hope you've heard from Bucky I hope he's doing ok. I'll write again to you soon, hopefully before they send me up to the front line I'll get to see you one last time.
