"Howard" I yelled down once I spotted him. What on earth was he doing here? Howard looked up when he heard my voice.
"Dorothy" he asked confused.
Without looking at Cole I ran down the steps and toward the circular science part of the room bringing him into a hug as soon as I got to him.
"What are you doing here" we both asked.
"You first" I said.
"Two army officers showed up at my door the other night, thought they wanted me to enlist but then they said they saw the exhibition and wanted someone who knew mechanics and well here I am, what about you?"
"I guess you were right about the whole not military thing huh."
"Honestly I have no idea what this is, but I'm going to do exactly as they tell me."
I stiffled a laugh smiling at him "Agrent Barnes" a voice called.
I turned around to see Colonel Phillips and a women I hadn't seen "Colonel Phillips" I replied shaking his outstretched hand.
"Agent Dorothy Barnes I want you to meet Agent Peggy Carter you two are going to be partners from now on."
"It's nice to meet you Agent Carter" I said shaking her hand.
"Please call me Peggy, Agent Barnes."
"Then call me Dorothy."
"And now the reason we're all here" Colonel Phillips said gesturing to someone behind me, I turned around and there I saw someone I was sure I wasn't going to see again for a long time.
"Steve" I called out shock evident in my voice.
Steve turned around at my voice shocked as well "Dotty."
The smile that was on my face was starting to hurt but I didn't care, I ran over to him pulling him into a hug "I've missed you so much."
"Bucky is going to kill you" we said at the same time.
"Do you two know each other" Colonel Phillips asked walking over with Peggy.
"We're best friends, known each other since we we're kids sir."
"Well that could come in handy" he said to himself even though we could all clearly hear him.
"I hate to break this up but we have to start" Dr Erskine said coming over to us.
"Of course, good luck Steve" I said giving him a kiss on the cheek before me, Peggy and Colonel Philips moved up the stairs to the viewing area. All I could do was watch, watch as Steve talked to Erskine then take his hat and shirt off "he is going to be okay isn't he" I asked Peggy not taking my eyes of Steve.
"He'll be fine" I couldn't tell if she was trying to reassure herself or me.
Steve climbed in to the human sized capsule I wasn't sure how but he almost looked smaller it didn't help that someone behind me was saying how Steve needed to eat a sandwich either. Howard walked over to him said something then walked away if only I knew what was going on, I fiddled with my necklace as Steve and I locked eyes to everyone else he looked brave to me he looked terrified.
"Can you hear me, is this on" the voice of Dr Erskine sounded through our the viewing area "ladies and gentlemen today we take not another step towards annihilation but the first step on the path to peace." While Dr Erskine was explaining what was going to happen the people behind him were prepping Steve "we begin with a series of micro injections into the subjects major muscle groups. The serum infusion will cause immediate cellular change. And then to stimulate growth the subject will be saturated with Vita - Rays."
"Serum infusion beginning in five, four, three, two, one" from where I was seated I could see the blue serum getting injected in Steve's body and then Howard pulling a lever so that the capsule enclosed Steve inside. Nobody was saying anything everyone was nervous but no more than me. Suddenly a blinding light came from the capsule and then a screaming could be heard. Steve's
I jumped up from my seat running out the room "shut it down, stop it" I yelled, Peggy then appeared beside me.
"Do as she says, shut it down" she yelled I sent her a quick smile before turning my attention back to what was going on in front of me "Howard."
"Kill the reactor Mr Stark, kill it, kill the reactor."
"No, don't I ca do this" Steve's voice yelled from inside the capsule.
"Why is he such an idiot" I mumbled gripping the bar in front of me tightly.
"Eighty, ninety, that's a hundred percent" everything suddenly started to overload, sparks flying from all machines and then it stopped, the machine shut itself off.
"Mr Stark" Dr Erskine demanded and on that demand he opened the door. And there was stece only he wasn't the Steve I had known in appearance he was taller, muscley.
I couldn't wait a second longer, I ran down the stairs Peggy following behind me and stopped when I was in front of him. "How do you feel?" I asked.
"Taller" he replied.
"It does appear that your finally taller than me."
"Yeah and it only took our whole lives and a super soldier serum to do it huh."
I quickly out stretched my hand to touch his bicep, he was warm without sounding weird then Peggy handed me a shirt to give to him I could see her laughing at me slightly "here I think you'll be wanting this" we smiled at each other and that was the second all hell broke loose.
