He kissed me passionately. It was perfect. Kells was perfect. From the tattoos that adorned his body to his blonde hair that stuck up in spikes, there was not a single flaw in his being. I loved him. We were suddenly interrupted by his phone ringing.
"Hello?" There was a pause as he listened to what the person on the other end of the line spoke. His face turned to stone. Kells hung up, put his phone on the black marble counter
"Pick Cas up," he said and stormed out of the house.

Of course he had to go and leave his fucking phone here. For all I know, he could be getting fucking beat to death. It's Cleveland, that's a legitimate possibility. And the fact that he told me to pick Casie up meant he'd be gone for at least three hours. I was shitting myself and trying to think of where he would go. Slim! Slim's place! He might go there, or maybe Slim would know where he was. First, I called him
"Yo,"
"Slim I need intel right now,"
"Chloe? What you need?"
"Okay I'm fucking stressed out here. Kells got this phone call and then just fucking out and gone and I have no idea where he is you gotta help me out here Slim I'm begging you," I said without taking a breath
"Chloe I'm sorry but even I don't know where he goes when he gets like this. You just gotta leave him for a bit, he always comes back. Just chill a bit."
I sighed "Okay, thanks man,"
"No problem," the line went dead. Slim was right, I just needed to chill. Kells was street smart and I knew he'd come back. I had to be chill for Casie and be chill for myself.

"So how was school?"
"We learnt about the ancient Egyptians,"
"Sounds fun,"
"It was but recess is the best," Casie replied
"When I was at school my favourite part of the day was recess. Did you know me and your dad went to the same high school?"
"Really? Did you graduate with him?"
"Yes I did, but I went to college and he didn't,"
"You went to college?" She said, amazed
"Well, kind of. I dropped out after a week. Which is bad, don't do that,"
"Okay. Is dad home?" Casie asked me nonchalantly
"I'm not sure. He wasn't when I left but he might be home now," I prayed he was home now. To break silence, I passed my phone back to Casie, it was connected to my shitty car "You can choose your favourite ones to play."

It was 6pm and he still wasn't back. And I knew I couldn't leave Casie here by herself. Therefore, I made her dinner and I was pretty proud of myself for taking initiative and looking after her. She did tell me she was "going to die of hunger" but that's besides the point and I would like to point out she loved my spaghetti.
"Do you know when Dad's coming home?"
"No, sorry Cas,"
"It's okay. Sometimes I don't see him for ages and ages when he goes on tour," she answered
"Who looks after you when he goes on tour?"
"Normally mom but she lives in Australia now so I'm not sure,"
"Oh,"

10 pm. Still no Kells. Casie went to bed an hour ago, but I still didn't want to leave her in case she woke up and needed something. Not being able to call him was stressing me out, for all I knew he could be in fucking Utah. I texted Slim again
Do u know where he is
Shit is he still not back
No nd I'm scared
Who tf called him
Idk
If he's not back tomo then call the police
Okay

At 1am, the door opened. Finally, Kells was back. He stunk of drugs and alcohol and looked like a fucking mess.
"Where the fuck have you been?"
"Places. I'm going to see Cas,"
"Not like that. Kells you reek of weed and vodka,"
"You can't stop me from seeing my daughter," he said, surprisingly sober
"I can damn well try. Do you really want her to see you like this?"
He didn't say anything "Ima go get some water,"
I followed him into the kitchen "Who called you?"
"No one,"
"Okay it was clearly someone because you've got so fucked up there's no way it was a meaningless call,"
"My mom,"
