Silence.

That was half of your world. Complete and utter silence.  At least, now it is.

You used to be able to hear perfectly, even hearings things that most others weren't able to catch. When you were 9, however, it was discovered that you had ear infections, and quickly lost your hearing in less than two years. You could still talk, but it was difficult to put words together that you couldn't hear so you just signed instead.

Now you were sixteen. Being deaf was just a normal part of your life. Although you missed hearing beautiful music and the unique voices of new people, you'd found that one perk of being deaf is that headaches were no longer caused because of too much noise. Also, didn't have to have an annoying alarm jolting you awake every morning.

Sitting at a table outside of your school, you took out your lunch consisting of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich  (unless your allergic, then change it to a ham and cheese, I guess),  applesauce, chocolate pudding, fruit roll ups, a bag of chips, and a water bottle. Time to feast!

While you had just started to eat, you saw that someone had sat across from you. You looked up and saw your good friend Sherlock. You weren't quite sure how you became friends, but you did. Maybe it was due to the fact that you both loved books more than life itself or that he wanted to learn sign language and you were a good teacher, but either way you were friends.

Even if you felt a bit more than like a friend towards him...

You waved with your sandwich in your other hand. Then, after taking a bite and outing the mediocre sandwich down, you signed. What's up?

Nothing much. There's a new shipment of books in the library, Sherlock signed back. You were grateful that you had someone other than your family to communicate with without having to write everything you wanted to say down.

Did they get the books on Julius Caesar? You asked excitedly.

No idea. Just hurry up so we can go.

Fine. Just be a little patient, will you?

You ate quickly, probably slurping your pudding a bit too much, but you couldn't hear it and Sherlock didn't care so you were alright with it. In less than three minutes, you were done with all of your food and were already rushing down the hallways to the library, Sherlock barely keeping up with your feverish pace.

Bursting through the doors to the palace of books, you immediately spotted the new shipment by the librarian with her desk and walked over there swiftly. Sherlock came in about ten seconds after you, practically panting. Admittedly, you were a bit of a lot fast when it came to books. Especially books that excited you to the point that you had to pull an all nighter.

You waited until Sherlock got over to where you were. Translate to the librarian for me please? You asked.  Sherlock gave you a slightly dirty look before nodding. Thank you.
