When it came to people, you weren't exactly the best with them.

Sure, you were nice and somewhat normal and stuff, but you and people just did not get along. Especially when they realized you were obsessed with the strangest of things.  When adults asked you if you'd like to join a group for a chat, you responded with the following:

"Talking? To people? Don't be ridiculous!"

You were smart like that.

It was difficult being a kid with no friends, but you didn't exactly mind. There was one person you talked to, mostly, and that was your best friend: Sherlock Holmes.

Fortunately, Sherlock wasn't very good at making friends either, so you two hit it off very quickly. Unfortunately, because the two of you were terrible with people, you didn't exactly know how to treat each other as friends.

Your idea of a friend was someone you could count on to use in time of need and could trust to keep promises. However, you were not exactly willing to do the same on the promises part. And Sherlock's trusted you a bit too much...

Which was probably why he was waiting in the pouring rain by the edge of the schoolyard for you so he could show you an experiment. (Something to do with blowing something up in the microwave) You were nowhere to be seen.

Mycroft had came from his secondary school to pick his younger brother up when he saw what was happening. He could tell immediately that you were not very good with promises, but Sherlock chose to overlook that fact.

The older brother walked up to Sherlock and the latter scowled at him.

"If you're waiting for her, she's not coming," Mycroft told his sibling in a mostly cold but slightly sympathetic tone.

Sherlock rolled his eyes. "No, she is. She promised she would."

"Oh, I forgot. She's great with promises, isn't she?"

This seemed to make Sherlock even more angry at his brother because he looked at the ground for a moment before dashing away. Mycroft sighed and began walking home slowly, suspecting that Sherlock would catch up sometime.

You, however, were working on an experiment of your own and completely forgot how Sherlock wanted to show you something. You were actually testing how some microorganisms reacted to poisonous substances. It was actually quite intriguing. When you'd finally realized what you were supposed to be doing with your friend, you abandoned your experiment and ran to go see if Sherlock had left already.

Arriving at the meeting spot, you found that it was completely empty. You looked everywhere, but couldn't find him.

Just as you were about to give up, you head sniffs coming from underneath the gym bleachers. You peaked underneath and spotted a familiar figure hugging his knees and sobbing. Guilt pinged inside your chest as you approached him.

Luckily, for once the child sociopath didn't notice you as you creeped along to give him a hug. He flinched at first before beginning to push you away and cry even more.

"I'm sorry," you said. "I'd forgotten completely and I'm the absolute worst. Can you forgive me?"

Sherlock's response was simply more tears.

"Oh, come on... Please don't cry. I hate seeing you cry..." You hugged him tighter. "Just...focus on me instead, okay? I'm here now. I promise I'll never forget again."

"That's the thing..." Sherlock said, looking you in the eye. "You never keep your promises."

You blinked and sighed. "Well...I can try? I promised I would meet you after school, right? It's after school..."

Sherlock chuckled. "You always find a way out, don't you?"

You smirked a little. "I suppose I do. Now, let get out of here. These bleachers are way too cramped." You helped him up and led him out of there. "Now, what was it you wanted to show me?"

The two of you left hand in hand. And when you finally had caught up with Mycroft and he'd seen the two of you holding hands he smirked.

"Sherlie, you know you're not allowed to date yet."

A/N Okay so this was shorter than I expected it would be, but I don't really know how to write in a child'a perspective despite my mind usually being childish itself. I'm sorry.

Anywho, I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading!!
