That afternoon was calm and tranquil. I read some random book and scrolled through my Instagram feed.
I was halfway through the book (and my Insta-feed) when I received a phone call with an unknown caller ID. I answered anyways, "Hello?"
"Hey Ellie, what do you say we go watch a movie this evening?"
"Who is this?"
"Kevin."
"Oh, hi." That was a bit weird. He never called me.
"So?"
"So, um, okay."
"Okay."
"Okay. What movie?"
"A Quiet Place at 6.30. Be there early so we can get popcorn and laugh at the silly commercials."
I smiled. "Okay."
"See ya." He hung up.
