this chapter may be a little short but it was sort of just a filler chapter but hopefully you still enjoy it.

They seemed to joyful and calm. I wanted to be like them but the loss of my mate, caused me to be the exact opposite of them.

Chapter Two- Leave Me Alone

Danny's POV

My eyes remained closed and my breathing was light, as I tried to convince Noah that I was sleeping. I just wanted to be left alone but ever since we left Adam's mansion, he stayed glued to my side. "I brought you some food," he stated in a hopeful tone.

I refused to eat, mostly because the raw feeling in my stomach made my appetite disappear. "I'm not hungry." I sniffed the air. "and that meat is raw."

"I was hoping I could get your wolf to eat," he said "I know he's hungry, Danny."

He came to kneel in front of me, the smell of the raw meat assaulting my nose. I glared at him before pulling the sheets over my head. I didn't understand why I wasn't allowed to be sad. I also didn't understand why Noah was with me when his mate was sick in bed.

"Leave me alone, Noah," I groaned. I almost felt bad for speaking to my Alpha like this but I was too upset to be scared of someone at the moment.

I thought I couldn't possibly hate Noah more at the moment but then he proved me wrong when he started to poke my face through the blankets. "Danny. Hey, Danny. Danny!" He said my name at least ten more times before I finally gave in.

"What?" I snarled as I threw the blanket off my head. The minute the blanket was off my face, the heavenly aroma of the uncooked meat dominated my senses.

"Do you want this meat, Danny?" My stomach growled, answering for me. I watched every movement he made as he slowly brought it to my muzzle. I didn't even realize that I had shifted. Before he could make any more movement, I snatched the food from his hand and swallowed it in one gulp. "That's a good boy." My tail wagged underneath the sheets as he ran his fingers through my soft- but dirty- fur. I shifted back, once he stopped, and returned to my spot underneath my blue covers.

"If you're done harassing me, I would like to be left alone."

"No, we're going out tonight to the usual spot."

I groaned into the mattress beneath me. There was nothing I wanted more than for Noah to leave. I didn't see the point in hanging out with people, when I hated most people at the moment. "I'm not leaving this bed."

*****************

"I can't believe you dragged me out of that bed," I whined. I ignored my group of friends and stood a few feet away as we waited for everyone to pile out of the car. I was surrounded by couples, making me sick to my stomach. The only good thing about this whole situation, was that Ryder wasn't here to accompany Noah. Don't get me wrong, Ryder didn't let us take Noah out, without a whole list of rules. We were basically told to babysit Noah and to never leave his side. But at least, we were both boyfriend-less at the moment.

"Oh, cheer up! You're gonna have fun," he said, cheerfully. Sighing, I stared down at my dirty, old sneakers. I couldn't stand being near all these couples. My heart felt like it was being stabbed by a large, rusty sword. Suddenly, I was grabbed by the arm and pulled inside the incredibly loud club. I was pushed into a booth and not long after, squished in between two bodies.

There was no conversation for at least minute and when I looked up, I noticed everyone was watching me. "What?" I asked, suddenly worried if there was something on my face. Noah glanced down at his lap, his bangs covering his eyes, as he laughed, quietly, to himself. I glanced around the table and realized not only was everyone staring at me, but I could clearly tell they were worried about me.

But I was tired of everyone's pity. We all had a rough few days. Just because I lost my mate, didn't mean I needed special treatment. But then again, I did enjoy the extra attention and it sorta felt good to have my peers worrying about me.

"Can y'all stop looking at me, like that? I'm fine, okay," I stated, exchanging glances with the familiar faces that sat at my table. Ronnie nodded before turning towards Sage. Conversation instantly began to buzz and before I knew it, the whole table was conversing, excluding me.

The stabbing pain in my heart returned as I watched my friends. They seemed to be joyful and calm. I wanted to be like them but the loss of my mate, caused me to be the exact opposite of them.  I rested my forehead against the cold surface of the table while trying to swallow the lump in my throat. Riley was the only thing I wanted. He was the only thing I needed.

After not moving for about three minutes, a new conversation topic caught my attention. I slowly moved my head so I could stare at my friends as they began to talk about Noah and Ryder's wedding.

"I can't believe my little baby is getting married," Sage cooed as she pinched Noah's already red cheeks. He slapped her hands away before continuing to talk to the rest of the group.

"I'm your best man, right?" Andy questioned as Noah glared at him. "Sorry. I mean, I'm your maid of honor, right?"

Noah's cheeks flared while the whole group either snickered or laughed. I couldn't help but smile myself. "Actually, I was hoping Danny would be." I instantly sat up, my gaze never leaving Noah. He glanced over at me before chuckling softly to himself. I never would have thought Noah would want me to be his best man or anything, for that matter. Without realizing what I was doing, I nodded. His smile spread across his face and I couldn't help but smile, as well.
