TWENTY SEVEN ૐ THE HEART AND THE MIND

LATER THAT NIGHT, Montgomery and Olivia sat in silence, staring up at her house. The lights on the living room was soon indicating that someone was waiting for her to come home. The night went by as smoothly as Montgomery hoped which meant no dreadful encounters with neither Tina nor Justin. But he and Justin had seen each other from afar and the de la Cruz boy dragged Olivia away before Justin could get to them.

Olivia breaks the silence. "Do you wanna spend the night over?"

"What?" He asks, surprised.

"I said, do you wanna spend the night over?" Olivia repeated. "I wouldn't want you driving back on your own. You also had some to drink awhile ago. I wouldn't want to worry all night if you got home safely or it would drive me nuts."

He smiled softly at her joking statement but he knew that joking matters aside, she was genuinely worried. "I think I'll be good."

Olivia deadpanned. "I wasn't taking 'no' as an answer by the way. I wouldn't want you driving yourself dead in a ditch somewhere." She unbuckled her seatbelt and urged the boy. "Come on. Let's go inside."

Montgomery and Olivia bounded up the porch steps and when they stepped inside, they were welcomed with Grayson's small cries situated in the living room. Olivia enters the living room swiftly and saw Grayson balanced on her sister's hip as she rocked him back and forth to sleep. Elizabeth looked up and sighed in relief, "Thank God, you're here. Gray's been looking for you."

"Aw, my poor boy." Olivia cooed, scooping him up from Elizabeth's arms. She nuzzled her nose in the little boy's baby cheeks and upon the touch of his mother, his cries slowly ceased. "Momma's here now, love, don't worry."

"So, how was the party?" Elizabeth interrogates, plunking down on the couch heavily.

Montgomery takes Grayson from her and sits down on the armchair while she plops down on the cushion next to her sister. "It was good. It's been awhile since I've been to a beach party, let alone be in a party without leaving so early for Grayson. Ugh, I missed those tequila shots." She replied.

"See! I told you it would be fun." She exclaimed then she looks over Olivia's shoulder and told Monty; "Thanks for taking my sister away to have fun. Since she became a baby momma, she forgot how to and became an uptight."

"And whose fault was that?" She quipped sarcastically, shooting a playful glare at Montgomery who only winked at her. "When did you get home by the way? You left early at Gray's birthday party, Mom told me you were staying with Luke." Luke is Elizabeth's boyfriend of 5 years.

"I got home this afternoon, right after you guys left. Anyway, I have a big news for you! Are you ready?" Elizabeth bit down on her bottom lip to suppress the huge smile taking over half of her face. She held her left hand up where a sparkly jewelry was worn on her finger. "I'm getting married!"

Montgomery gasped while Olivia froze, her eyes widened and mouth agape. She held a hand over her mouth to stifle a scream and together with Liz, she bounced up and down on the couch as they burst into giggles and held back screeches. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Are you kidding me?! When did that happen?! How did it happen?! Is that why he asked you to come meet him? Tell me everything."

Elizabeth droned on about everything as per requested by Olivia. She tells her everything she wanted to know and when she was slowly coming to an end with her story, Olivia started to cry. "I can't believe you're getting married."

"Me too. It still feels surreal to me." Elizabeth agreed.

"I'm so happy you finally found the one for you." She cried with a small smile. "I'm happy for you, Liz."
