Chapter 19

Colby's POV

I woke up & Sam was in my arms. I don't even remember falling asleep. This is one of the rare occasions I woke up before him. I have to go to work today. I leave at 2:30 get home at 8:30. I groaned out of just not wanting to leave then. I realized we were about 20 minutes closer to Wal-Mart now. Wait! Then I can wait a little later until I have to leave. Yay. Sam was still soundly sleeping. I smiled down at the blonde laying on my chest. I lightly kissed his head & slid out from under him. I made sure he didn't wake up. I got dressed & went down stairs. I seen Corey sitting in the game/tv room. I went & say next to him. He was playing Rocket League.

"Wheres Sam?" He asked.

"Hes still asleep upstairs." I said pulling out my phone. Sam's mom texted me last night.

Hey. I was wondering if you boys could watch Caysey not tomorrow but the night after I have work I need to do & she can't be here while I'm working.

I texted her back saying we could because I had that night off. Corey finished his game of Rocket League & handed me a controller. We played a few games before I heard Sam yell. I was really worried so I ran up stairs skipping about 7 steps. He was still sleeping but he was yelling in his sleep. I shook him awake. As soon as he seen me he tackled me into a hug. I fell onto the floor & he was on top of me.

"Hey. Whats wrong?" He nodded his head no. "Another nightmare?" He had been getting nightmares recently but not very often. He let out a loud shaky sob. Then he nodded yes. "Do you want to talk about it?" I asked rubbing his back. He just continued to cry ignoring my question.  I felt so bad even though I can't control his dreams. His breathing evened out & I couldn't hear him crying anymore. We were still laying on the floor. I sat up & Sam pulled away from the hug & sniffled.

"Sorry." He mumbled.

"Its okay. Do you want to talk about it?" I asked as we got up & sat on the bed.

"You actually jumped. I didn't get there in time & Brennen wasn't driving by at the right time. I got there & I looked over the side of the bridge &............" He started crying again. I knew what he was gonna say.

"Shhh. Its okay. I'm here Sam. I didn't jump. I'm safe." He sniffled & I pulled him closer to me. "Everything is okay Sam." I kissed his cheek & he smiled.

"I love you Colby." He said at me.

"I love you too Sammy." We kissed for a few seconds. "Are you feeling better now?" I asked him.

"Yeah." He smiled & nodded at me.

"Well 2 things I have work tonight & we have to pick up Caysey tomorrow for your mom." He looked sad about me working.

"Do you have to go to work? Can't you just stay home?" I chuckled. 

"I could but what would we do?" I asked him.

"We could watch a movie & cuddle." He suggested.

"As much as I love the idea it might be best for me to go to work." He looked bummed. "Not because I don't want to cuddle with you but because how else are we gonna have money to live on?" 

"One day isn't that bad. Please!" He begged me.

"How do expect me to say no to you?" I asked.

"So your gonna stay home?" He asked excitedly.

"I guess so." He cheered & wrapped his arms around my neck. Let go down stairs. I think Corey was a little worried when you were yelling as well." He got dressed & we went down stairs. Corey was still playing Rocket League.

"Hey Sam are you okay?" He asked glancing up from his game.

"Yeah. Nothing to worry about." He lied. He was better though. I picked up my controller from before & started playing again. Sam was on his phone with his head on my shoulder. We all decided to go out for lunch so we went to get Aaron & Jake. We were arguing on weather we should go to Del Taco or Taco Bell. When everything went black.
