You laid in your hospital bed.

The machines beeped around you and you carefully adjusted the tube in your arm so that it was comfortable.

That was pretty much normal for you.

You pulled your iPod and earbuds off of the side table in your room. You plugged them into your iPod and turned on Marvin Gaye.

Charlie Puth was one of the only things that gave you energy anymore. Maybe the hope of a surgery, but not much else.

About halfway through the song, you heard a knock on your room door.

"Visitor!" The nurse called.

That was not normal. It was almost 10 PM.

"Come in...?" You nervously said, making it sound like a question.

Who would come to visit you this late at night?

You knew visiting hours were done at 11 PM, but anyone left was mostly family. Your family had left 2 hours ago.

You gave up guessing, but luckily you didn't have to anymore.

The human stepped into your room with a smile.

A familiar face that you looked at through your computer screen for hours a day smiled at you.

"Hi," he shyly said.

You didn't know what to say.

Charlie Puth was in your hospital room.

"Oh my gosh!! Are you... are you r-real?!" You cried. He came over to hug you. He was laughing.

"Yup, I'm real," he said, wrapping his arms around you and all of the cords and tubes.

"Thank you so, so much," you whispered.

"Aww, you're welcome."

"How did you... what..." you asked once he let go of you.

"You've got a pretty great family," was all he said.

You realized what he was saying and you nodded.

"So, do you think I can squeeze in? Is there any more room?" He asked, pointing towards the bed.

You scooted over out of the middle and tried to get the tubes out of the way.

Charlie saw you and stopped you.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. I don't want you to take anything out."

You nodded and let go of them.

He sat down beside you in your bed.

"What's your name?" He asked.

"Y/N."

He shook your hand with a laugh.

"Nice to meet you, Y/N. I'm Charlie."

"I know," you laughed, shaking his hand.

"So, are you excited for my new album?" He asked. You laughed.

"That would be a major understatement! How many days? 3? I can barely keep track of days anymore, being in here."

"Yeah. I think you'll enjoy this," he said, pulling a copy of the album out of his sweatshirt pocket.

You put your hands over your mouth and then hugged him again.

"This has been the best night of my life!"

"I'm so glad!" He exclaimed.

The two of you made small talk.

By the end of the night, you had cried a few times, had a new copy of the new album, an autograph, and a new sweatshirt.

"I don't know how to thank you."

"Stream the album on Spotify when it comes out, I guess," he said with a shrug and a chuckle.

"I will. I definitely will," you ensured him.

"Well, it was so nice to talk to you and meet you. Seriously. I say that to all my fans, but I mean it right now."

"Thank you."

"I have to go now. Stay strong, I know you can win. You're a strong girl. I can see it in you. But I have to go now. Good luck," he said, giving you a hug and a small kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you so much. Bye," you said as he left.

"Bye," he said with a wave. Then the door closed again.

You were left alone with your thoughts.

But then the door opened again.

Charlie was back.

"And here is my number in case you need to talk to someone. It probably gets lonely in here," he said, giving you a little piece of paper.

You took it and grabbed your phone. You put in the number.

"Ooh! Can we do a selfie?" He asked. "I love selfies."

You laughed.

"Of course," you said opening to the camera.

Charlie got beside you and you did selfies together.

"Alright. It was nice to see you again. Already," he chuckled.

"Same. Thank you."

"Yeah. Bye!" He said, walking out of the room again.

"Bye," you called.

You grabbed your phone and set one of the selfies as your wallpaper.

Then you set it down again and went to sleep.

This was the best day of your life.

By far.
