Hello!

We've had a chance to read some amazing work on Wattpad, but it's sad that these Authors are not getting the due exposure they deserve. So we created the Next Big Recognition (#NBR), a contest community book club that helps to promote:

The Beginners, the Recently-Joined-Wattpaders, the Up-and-Coming Greatness, the Underdog, the Friend Seeker, the Next Big Recognition, and anyone who wants to shine a piece of their writing underneath a spotlight.

We raise our glass to you.

Next Big Recognition Mission Statement

To improve the writing of authors seeking future publication
by encouragement, review, and critique.*

General Contest Information

Spotlight Rounds:

Upon becoming an official #NBR member, you will be placed into the spotlight queue. You will move up in the queue as you review your fellow members' books. Some may advance in the queue by giving outstanding reviews or by winning #NBR contests.

Each round (which lasts for two weeks), we spotlight four authors. We will also post one Comment Topic. As a contest participant, you will review all four spotlighted chapters  and answer the Comment Topic.

The author is the judge of ONE winning reviewer for his spotlighted chapter and is encouraged to dedicate his next chapter to the reviewer with the most insightful and helpful review received—also called "Quality Comment."

There are four winners each week! One winner per spotlighted author!

Why should I join?

As a writer you get:

Exposure

Your work receives two-week's worth of undivided attention from the reading community. This increases your chances of getting your work noticed, placed within reading lists, voted upon, and possibly even rise in rank.

Story Insight and Improvement

Even award-winning authors have editors. Why can't you? Comment Topics are designed to be thought-provoking, challenging, and inspiring. You get valuable feedback about your work.

A Following

There is a reason why this contest is called The Next Big Recognition.

Our hope is that this contest acts like a self-run talent agency where your fellow Wattpadders filter you out and streamline your rise to stardom. But then again, that is our hope.

So what do I get if I win?

You win exposure. And only through exposure do you get the chance to become the Next Big Recognition on Wattpad.

Chapter dedications are a great way to get exposed. Think about it. This author dedicated a piece of their work in your name. Your name is forever imprinted on that chapter. When people read that chapter, the first thing they see is your name. What's the business term for that? Marketing. Smart marketing done fairly and for free!

When you join, you automatically get put in the queue to have your work spotlighted. That's exposure, too.

So to break it down even further:

When you join, you immediately fall into the spotlight queue, which means you wait until it is your turn to be spotlighted. You earn the privilege to become spotlighted when you participate in each #NBR round.

When you join, you become both a spotlight author and a reviewer. You get to spotlight your work, comment on other authors' work, discover new books, win a dedication, network, and build friendships with other writers. You become part of a growing community of highly intelligent reviewers and avid readers.

It's like eating your favorite cake with extra frosting, and to top it off—a big fat delicious cherry!

Who can join?

✓ Anyone from any genre can join (non-fiction is case-by-case)

✓All books must be "free" on Wattpad and not part of the "Wattpad Next" pay-per-read program.

✓All books must be published on Wattpad and not merely a "sample" of a book that is published elsewhere (eg., Amazon, Tapas, Radish, Scribophile).

✓ Poetry can enter the contest, but will be placed in a wait-list queue until we have enough for a poetry round. (PM for more information)

✓ Moderate mature content is allowed to be featured once approved by the screeners. Members are not required to read mature content.

✓ Your work doesn't have to be completed or finished to join.

✓ Your chapter must be in English.

✓ Novels, novellas, and short stories (that meet the word requirement) are welcomed.

But what if I have time commitment issues?

Rounds run every Monday CST until the two Sundays later 11:59 CST (14 days total).

We respect everyone's time.

We all have lives outside of WP. We only ask that you show common courtesy. When you can't participate in rounds, please let an Enforcer know before hand. (Enforcers are listed on the #NBR profile bio.) Hiatuses are only allowed in extreme situations like illness and family emergencies.

If you join, only to blatantly disregard the rules then, please, do not join. This contest is not right for you. To join means that you WILL participate every week and that you WILL follow the rules and be fair to every fellow #NBR participant.

Like where this is going?
