Chapter Seven: "One, Two, Three, Jump."

"WHAT ABOUT THIS BOUTIQUE?" Angie walked ahead of all of us, leading the way down what seemed to be the longest street I have ever been on. Angie's thick black hair was tied in a high ponytail that she adjusted before fixing the strap of her purse on her shoulder. She wore large hoops with a tube top and long pants, not caring that it was obviously going to rain today.

I wouldn't care about what I wore if I looked like Angie, to be honest. A Guyanese queen with nice skin, a pretty face and a body most would kill for Angie was a natural beauty.

"Ang, I'm going to get jeans," I reminded her. "Not a dress, just jeans. I could literally walk into a thrift shop."

Krystal made a face. "A thrift shop? You can buy clothes. New clothes."

"You realize that half the clothes in my closet are from those places, right?" I asked Krystal, eyeing that the face was still on her face. She always had that face whenever we spoke about things like that. Krystal was used to new things. New clothes, new trends, new cars, never used.

Angie sighed, grabbing my hand. "Honey, I'm giving you the advice to go in here."

"I'm going to cut your pay." I joked.

"It's a good thing our friendship isn't based on money then, is it?" I shared a grin with her as we came to a stop in front of the store. I slightly turned my head when I heard Krystal and Caleb talking behind me.

"Where you from?" Caleb asked her.

"Los Angeles." Krystal dramatically dragged out the name of her hometown.

"You've lived there your entire life?" He questioned.

"Yeah, my dad owns most of his property there, so we never moved away."

"What does your dad do?"

"He's a director."

"Interesting."

Krystal shrugged just as I took a glance at my phone as it buzzed with a notification from my brother, Daniel. "I guess so. What about you and your parents?"

Looking down at my phone, I watched as a huge raindrop splattered against the frame. I immediately wiped my screen against the side of my pant leg. Caleb looked up at the sky too, his head tilted upward. "It looks like it's going to rain."

"Yeah," Angie said, still holding onto my hand only to drag me into the damn store. "All the more reason to find Octavia's jeans here before it rains."

"I have a windbreaker and so does Jake." I pointed out, wanting to continue my search by walking. I didn't mind the rain, if anything I loved walking through the rain whether with a group of people or by myself. But clearly, Angie wasn't going to let me have what I wanted.
