Hindi ko maitago ang inis sa aking boses habang kausap ko si Erex sa phone. It's his company's Halloween Party but he can't come?
"I'll try to catch up," malumanay niyang sabi. Dalawang linggo na kaming hindi nagkikita dahil siya mismo ang nag-ooversee sa una nilang project with LANE. Unfortunately, the location is a six hour drive from here.
To be fair, this month alone, I've traveled to different cities because of work. Sometimes, they're overseas. Tinanggap ko ang inalok na trabaho ng TravelZ. Bukod sa nakakapunta ako sa iba't-ibang lugar dahil sa kailangan naming features, nakakapagsulat pa ako. One I've always wanted to do and the other, I've been doing for a while. It wasn't easy adjusting to the change but luckily, Clive was there. Naging madali tuloy para sa akin na makilala ang lahat ng workmates ko.
Erex and I have different schedules and it frustrates me when I miss him. Lalo na at kasama niya roon si Frances. Jen was right, that girl is persistent. Kahit na umiiwas si Erex sa advances nito, hindi pa rin nagpapatinag ang babae. She still posts stolen photos of my freaking boyfriend on her Instagram! To think that she knows I'm dating Erex? Dapat yata ipagduldulan ko na we're living together.
"Bahala ka," pabalang kong sagot.
Sa building mismo ng CHAOS ang party. Bumaba lang muna ako para kausapin si Erex. Masyado kasing maingay sa taas.
"Don't be mad, honey. Babawi ako."
"Hindi naman ako galit."
"You are."
"Ewan ko. I'm hanging up. The party has already started."
Binabahan ko siya ng telepono pero nanatiling nakatitig sa screen. As expected, he called back right away. Nakakainis kasi talagang pareho naming isiningit itong party sa plans namin para makasama namin ang buong family niya.
I answered his call after several seconds.
"Who are you?" he said right away.
It took me a while to understand what he just asked.
"Someone who loves you," I answered with a smile. What he said was Han Solo's line from Star Wars and my answer was Princess Leia's. Well, I am dressed as Princess Leia and he was supposed to be Han Solo. It's his suggestion but he's not here!
"Leia kissed Han after that line. Where's my kiss?"
Napalingon ako at nakitang paakyat si Erex sa hagdanan. I ended the call and waited for him to come close. He's actually wearing Han Solo's ensemble— a white pullover, denim, leather boots and most importantly, the vest. Mine's a gorgeous white polyester dress with a silver belt.
"Surprise!" aniya nang matapat sa akin.
"Kinailangan mo ba talaga akong inisin?" Hinampas ko ang dibdib niya.
