No POV.

Adam and Ezra went their separate ways. Nothing seemed to spark the morning of the day. Everything was oddly quiet. Too quiet to the point where Adam started to question whether is was ok to be relaxed.

He didn't want to run into Mr. Calloway.

He had several questions about what he was doing here.

Why was he here?

What is his motive of being her at NYU?

Why is his last name different from what he remembered?

So many questions.

So little moments to question it.

He knew, if he were to see Mr. Calloway again...there would be blood involved.

Lots of it.

As for Ezra, he was not concerned about Malachi at all.

Actually, he was sure that when Adam told him off that Malachi would not come around again.

Or so he thought.

Lets see what happens.

🌹

"Okaaaaaay so boom! How about I start a dance team here?" I exclaimed to my advisor. He was staring at me with his head cocked to the side and his mouth slightly agape.

"Ok...?" He said. "Then why don't you try and-"

"Can I help?" I heard from the outside.

An unnerving chill inches down my spine. I snap my head around to see THE ENEMY step into the office.

"Oh hell no!" I snap.

"Ezra!" My advisor snaps back at me. I snap my head back around and roll my eyes.

"C'mon Era, you can't be mad at me forever." Malachi replies, with the look he gives me he knows that makes me weak.

I'm not going to surrender!

"No!" I yell. I gather up my things and run out of the office. Of course, his ass is following me and I can't go anywhere specifically.

"Can we talk? Please!! Why are you shutting me out?" Malachi called to me.

I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to him. "Oh I don't know, ask your secret girlfriend? Your baby mama? Your kid???? Are you kidding me Malachi!"

He sighed and shook his head. "Look I'm sorry. I should've told you." He stayed calmly.

"But the thing is you didn't!! You did not Malachi! You had me in denial for years! YEARS!! I was still trying to prove to myself and the world that we could make this work! I got here, longing for you! I missed you! But your secret took that away from me! I LOVED YOU!" I screamed. At this point I did not care who heard me. It needed to be said because I was tired of being quiet.

"I don't even want to waste my emotions on you anymore Malachi. You broke me. So much to the point where I don't even cry anymore. Do you know how sickening it feels to loose your mother....and not feel even an inch, of the mourning of her funeral?"

At this point, I was surprised I still didn't shed a tear once. Malachi on the other hand, was staring at me with tears streaming down his face.

"Fine. I'll leave you alone. But mark my words Ezra, you will need me the most. You will need only me, Adam won't be able to help you."  He said. He started to walk away.

I sucked my teeth and began to walk again back to my dorm.

What the hell did he mean, you'll need me?

I'm not going to need him for anything. Mark MY words.

🌻

God I hate sports.

"Coach." I said.

"Adam." He says, nodding at me. "You playing for my team this year?"

"Nope." I say, popping the "P".

He turns to me, pulling his glasses down with his index finger. "And why the hell not?"

"I hate it. I hate how you and the other players treat me. I feel like the poster child of the whole team, while you barely give me playing time." I simply say.

"All right, well if you don't play, you'll loose your scholarship." He stated.

Is that supposed to shake me?

I chuckle and start to walk to the door. "I have other scholarships that can pay for the rest of my schooling. Don't worry."

I exited the office with a sly smile on my face. I knew that all that of my scholarships that I was able to attain through the summer that I was preparing for this very moment, I did that so well.

I'm free!!!

I see in the far distance, a Father with their son. It looks like the discussion is pretty heated. The child was face to face with his father, the father slowly grabbed him and pulled him into a hug only for him to aggressively push away and scream at him.

"WHY DO YOU DECIDE TO BE A FATHER NOW?!" He said. It was a pretty far distance but I could hear that statement clear as day.

My smile slowly faded, and I kind of hid behind a shaded tree. I was just being nosy, like normal.

"YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE CALLED MY FATHER!! STOP PRETENDING TO BE!" He screamed again.

From what I could see, the father broke down in tears. The son shook his head and walked away, leaving the man in the street, breaking and crying in agonizing pain.

At this point I got up from my hiding place and walked to the man. Then, I stopped dead in my tracks.

Adrian looks up at me with watery eyes. He wipes them and shields his face.

It took everything in me not to just leave this man crying in the street.

Instead, I took his arm and helped him up. He looked at me and sighed. My mind went blank as we met eyes.

I wanted to say something...

But what?

What would be his response?

"...uh, how-how you been?" I said.

He hesitated but gave me a light grin. "Decent."

I nodded, he smiled a bit bigger. I realized I was still holding onto him so I let him go quickly and turned to walk away.

"Wait Adam!"

I slowly turned to face him. "Yeah?"

"Can we talk? I actually have a lot to tell you." He said, I could see his eyes pleading for me to say yes.

"....Sure."
