Mukul was asking keerthi to spend the night with him, this can't be good news. I knew something was up with him.
I quickly hit back a message to Keerthi, saying
"Say no Keerthi. These things are dangerous. He can't be trusted"
I take a deep breath, hoping that Keerthi understands my perspective
"Really Nisha? Mukul is an amazing guy, I really don't find him shady? Should i go thru with this?"
Oh no. Why is Keerthi getting swayed to Mukul, she needs to understand that us, her family are the ones who will look out for her in the long run
"NISHA! Turn off your phone, I can't get sleep" Siddharth huffs waking up
"Oh sorry" I say quickly turning it off
"Who are you texting at this hour?" He asks rubbing his tired eyes
"Um..." I pause
Before I knew realise, Siddharth snatches the phone off my hands, ands opens my chat
"Siddharth!" I yell
"Keerthi I see" He says scrolling up
"You don't have to rea-" I start
"Say no Keerthi. These things are dangerous" He mocks trying to imatite my accent
"Give that back" I say snatching the phone
"What's wrong with you Nisha? Keerthi should've never come to you for advice"He sighs
"What? So are you saying that I did the wrong thing by warning her about men? That Mukul is asking her to spend the night with him. How dare he" I revert
"This is America, not India. These things are common. All couples have sex before marriage. It's the norm" He says
"How dare you. Keerthi may be living in America, but we are Indians. We can't let go of our culture. These things are unacceptable" I explain
"Bla bla bla. Give me that phone. I'm gonna tell Keerthi to say yes" He says holding out his hand
"What? Are you insane Siddharth? This is Keerthi's life we are talking about. One wrong move can land her in a lot of trouble. Plus that Mukul is no good" I say
"There you go again, ranting about poor old Mukul I swear you're crazy. You know about men, doing these kinds of things will keep a man with you. We don't want to lose Mukul. We may never get this opportunit-" He exerts
"What? It's the business opportunity you are talking about right? You're pushing this relationship for all the wrong reasons, have you even thought about Keerthi for a second. I can't believe I'm married to such a selfish bastard!" I yell
"Shut UP!" He screams pushing me away and grabbing my phone
Siddharth gets off the bed and walks outside to the balcony with my phone in his hand
Siddharth was going to tell Keerthi to do it, but I can't further emphasis on how bad this move is. There is something seriously wrong with Mukul, and my gut is always right. I can't let this happen.
Within moments Siddharth returns back into the room.
"You did it, didn't you? You are going to spoil Keerthi" I say fuming with anger
"Yes, I did. And there's nothing you can do about it" He grins with a smirk, before lying down
"You bastard" I muffle
