chapter twenty one

CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

    This could have very well been the longest day of Olivia's life. She was in a lock down at school due to a bomber, felt the pain of an open stomach being pinched together by staples, went back to the school at night, went to a power substation in order to save a girl by the name of Kira, was told by her boyfriend that he loved her for the first time, and now found herself sitting in the Sheriff's office with Agent McCall and Sheriff Stilinski. She sat on the couch next to Stiles, Scott next to her, Kira next to Scott, and Lydia in the single chair to their left.

  "So, when did you get there?"

  "At the same time." Olivia scratched her neck, awkwardly before looking to Stiles, then the ground. She did not want to have to take part in the lie.

  "At the same time as who?"

"At the same time as me." Kira was in the same boat as Olivia, not being able to tear her eyes from the ground.

  "By coincidence?" Agent McCall had a hard time believing their story, rightfully so.

"What do you mean coincidence?"

"That's what I'm asking you. The two of you arrived at the same time. Was that coincidence?"

"Are you asking me?" Scott looked at his father before turning to Stiles. "I think he's asking me."

"Or..." Olivia decided to speak up, "He could be asking the both of you." She looked to at the boys either side of her, shrugging.

"Okay, let me answer the questions." Olivia rolled her eyes, sinking into the coach. The four kids awkwardly looked at him, the Sheriff trying not to laugh as he sat behind the Agent in his desk.

"Let me ask the questions." Stiles winked, pointing at McCall. Olivia hit his arm.

"Just so I have this absolutely clear...Barrow was hiding in the chemistry closet at the school. Someone left him a coded message on the blackboard, telling him to kill Kira. Then Barrow took Kira to a power sub station, and tied her up with the intention of electrocuting her, which blacked out the entire town."

"Exactly." Olivia said with a little too much energy, all the eyes in the room turning to her. Stiles slowly rubbed her thigh, turning back to McCall. "Sounds about right."

"How'd you know he'd take her to a power station?"

"Well, cause he was an electrical engineer, so where else would he take her?"

"That's one hell of a deduction there, Stiles. Yeah, what can I say? I take after my pops. He's in law enforcement." Stiles winked at his father, causing him to stifle a laughter, his hand covering his mouth. As Agent McCall looked behind him, the sheriff covered it by coughing.

"Stiles, just uh, answer the man."

"We made a good guess."

"What were the two of you doing?" McCall turned to his son and Kira. In response, they both answered at the same time, "Eating sushi." and "Eating pizza." They looked to each other before turning back, each saying the opposite answer. To correct themselves they finished with, "Eating sushi and pizza."
