What Reveals The Truths, Lies In The Heart

"Well, you said you hated humanity. Aren't I a part of the human race?"

"Yes, but—"

You didn't have a reasonable explanation for it, but ever since you had stumbled your way into the basement coming face to face with the devil himself, you couldn't break the connection you had with him. While your brothers continued to go on with their somewhat normal lives pretending everything that had happened that night had never occurred at all, you could still feel him dwelling down below. Your conversation from before replayed in your mind on an endless loop. It made you want to rip your brain out of your skull. The pain of his memory taunted you until finally you accepted his constant presence as your new normal.

Unlike you, Lucifer wasn't stewing in regret or confusion or anger. Instead, he was calm and still as if he was planning something in his isolation. Something that you knew involved your new evolving form.

You try to warn your brothers along with the angel you had grown so close to over the past few years, yet they refused to listen to your fears. They instead rejected it. Dismissing it for your childhood anxieties and vivid imagination. As if they didn't even see the pain sweltering in your eyes.

Despite their efforts to continue on with regular day to day life, you knew in your heart that everything was changing. At least for you. Days were anything but peaceful anymore. There would be hours upon hours of his torment, your body and mind rejecting him for as long as you could. Your soul was still loyal to your brothers, but with each day that passed, Lucifer became more and more of a friend. He was with you basically twenty-four-seven. He knew every one of your happy, bitter, and angry thoughts that passed through your mind and he used them all to his advantage, slowly earning your devotion.

Nights were even worse. As your change began, your nights were filled with hallucinated nightmares, causing you to awaken with painful electric shocks coursing through your body in spasmodic bursts. In medical terms, they were just seizures. A condition you had suffered from since you were a toddler. Your brothers, including Castiel, knew how to handle them, but it wasn't long until you happened to sense the fear in the angel's eyes as they continued to get worse.

It was the middle of a stormy night and you had just awoken from a semi-calm slumber. The night terror you had been experiencing through most of the night proving to be a little easier to handle this time. It only caused you minor pain, but you still called out for someone to help you. You were secretly hoping for Sam to walk in; him being the only one that was sort of the same towards you since that night in the basement. He was the only one that could bring you some comfort, but instead, Castiel happened to be the one to answer your call. He had handled things like this many time before, so much so that he was practically an expert at relieving your pain. However, for a quick moment, it looked as if he was afraid of you as he caught a glimpse of the dark light in your eyes. He had fear woven in his bright blue eyes only briefly, but it was just enough for you to notice.

From that night on, you began to feel separated from your family. Your brothers became distant and Castiel made it his mission to avoid you at all cost. The feeling of abandonment quickly sunk in, only making your hidden connection with the man downstairs that much stronger. Soon you were completely reliant on yourself and Lucifer's constant voice that existed in your head. It was like you couldn't run from it. He was always there. Everything and anything led straight back to him.
