Chapter Seventeen

"Hurry!" You yelled to your teammates as you raced toward the burning castle.

As you neared it, you could've sworn you heard screams. You hoped it wasn't Lady Akiko or her family.

You all neared the front gates, finding them to be shut tightly.

"This way, we can sneak in through a servant's passage." Kakashi said. You all followed him around the side of the castle, straight toward a scraggly outcropping of rocks.

The silver haired man pulled a rock down, and you realized it was a disguised lever. A small door opened, and you all hurried in.

"How did you know that was there, sensei?" Sakura asked Kakashi. He shrugged.

"I'm a ninja. I'm supposed to know these things."

You all raced up a flight of spiraling stairs, coming to a wooden door at the top.

"Get ready to fight, guys. Remember, we take out the intruders and protect the royal family. And watch out for Daisuke, he's probably one of the leaders of this movement." You warned your students. You glanced between all of them, saying silent goodbyes just in case not all of them made it out of this castle alive. Although, you severely doubted any of them would perish anytime soon.

You quietly opened the door, peering out to find an empty corridor. It was dead silent, all the candles snuffed out.

You slipped into the hall, allowing your teammates to do the same. You all headed down the corridor, towards the dining hall. You signaled for your team to stop as you heard talking from around the corner.

"Lord Ryokucha is currently with the royal family. He has ordered us to secure the entire castle and round up the servants. Then we give them the choice to pledge their loyalty to us, or die."

You peered around the corner to see two men talking. One was the long haired man from the courtyard, the other was a man wearing a dark outfit and mask, hiding his face.

"Yes sir." The dark clothed man saluted his companion, walking toward your team.

You wildly gestured for them to get back. As the man rounded the corner, you leaned against the wall, trying to act seductive.

"Hey baby, I'll pledge my loyalty to you if you give me a good time." You gave him a shy smile before putting a hand on your hip.

The man stared at you for a moment, completely caught off guard. He looked you up and down once, opening his mouth to respond.

Not trusting him to not yell to the long haired man, you punched him square in the face, kneeing him in the groin as he clutched his face with his hands. Then you pulled him around, putting an arm around his neck and slowly suffocating him. He silently gasped for air, falling limp as you slowly lowered him to the ground.

You wiped your brow, turning around to face your team.

"What the hell was that!!!" Naruto whispered furiously.

You shrugged. "Let's just go save Aki, okay?"

Your teammates all nodded in agreement, as you all made your way down the hall. After several more turns, you found yourselves on the upper level of the dining hall, looking down at the chamber below.

Just a half hour ago, you had been seated down there, accusing Daisuke of trying to overthrow Lord Kōcha. Now, the table had been upturned and shattered, the royal family and other servants standing in the center. They were huddled together, surrounded by a group of masked men. One of them stood out, his dark hair shimmering in the light.
