Your team raced through the forest, making haste towards the nearest village.
Kakashi carried the pinkette in his arms, cradling her limp body as her skin turned paler and paler.
"How much further?" Sasuke asked. Out of your whole team, he seemed to be the most worried.
"It should be around here..." Kakashi grumbled back.
You eyed your surroundings, looking for any sign of a human presence. Any hint of a settlement nearby.
"Over there!" Naruto exclaimed. He pointed up at a stream of billowing smoke, a couple hundred yards away.
Your team picked up the pace, zipping past trees like fleeting shadows.
"Look!" Sasuke stared at several dim lights glowing through the foliage. You had reached the village.
"Hold up. We need to stop for a second." Kakashi commanded. You all slowed down, looking at him in confusion.
"Why are we stopping? We need to get Sakura help as soon as possible." Sasuke reasoned. You could hear an edge of panic in his voice.
"I know, but first we all need to take off our headbands." The silver haired man replied.
You all frowned in confusion.
"Why?" Naruto asked.
"Because, we don't want to draw any suspicion to us. Entering the village as a group of ninja could attract unwanted attention. Our best bet is to lie low and pretend to be normal people."
It made sense to you. The person who attacked your team and hurt Sakura could still be nearby. Making your presence as ninja clearly known was an unnecessary risk.
"He's right guys. Everyone take off anything that could hint to our affiliation to any village." You set an example, untying the shadow symbol from your waist. You wrapped it up, placing it at the bottom of you pack.
Everyone followed your lead, taking off their headbands and putting them away.
Sasuke crouched beside Sakura, gently untying the band from the crown of her head and putting it in her bag. He had been carrying her load of supplies since the attack.
"Sasuke..." She moaned in her sleep. Her face scrunched up, sweat forming on her brow. Not once did she open her eyes to reveal their green brilliance.
Sasuke stared down at her, not bothering to respond. He just sat beside her, analyzing her carefully.
"Kakashi, what about your eye?" You pointed at his now revealed Sharingan.
He pulled a bandage out of his pack, wrapping it around his head to hide his left eye.
He gave you a reassuring smile and you returned it.
"Alright guys, let's get moving." Kakashi announced. He bent down next to Sakura and scooped her up.
Sasuke stood, running a hand through his hair. He seemed in conflict, as if he were deciding whether or not he should do something.
Once again, you were on your way, inching closer and closer to the lights of the nearby village.
"Okay everyone. To maintain our anonymity, we need a background story. Any suggestions?"
Naruto lit up. "Ooh, I know! I'm the long lost heir of a power kingdom. The kingdom of... Ramen! And Sakura's my betrothed, Kakashi-sensei and (Y/N)-sensei are my body guards and Sasuke is... my servant!"
Everyone cringed, shaking their heads.
"Naruto... just no." Kakashi said blatantly.
The blonde boy shrugged. "Worth a shot."
