Chapter Twenty One

"Get ready, set GO!!!"

You and Asuma picked your mugs up at the same time, chugging down their contents quickly. Asuma was a hair behind you, as you already started on your second mug.

Kurenai and Guy were busy refilling mugs, keeping tabs on how many cups you had both finished.

Your throat burned as you downed another cup, working on your fourth. Asuma was just starting his.

Before you knew it, you were slamming your fifth cup down, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand.

Asuma set his mug down a few seconds after you.

"Hahaha! I win!!!" You jumped up and down in triumph. Asuma grumbled to himself, crossing his arms in defeat.

Kurenai reached across the table and patted his hand in comfort, saying soothing words to him. You couldn't hear them over the rush of blood in your head.

You giggled to yourself, quickly getting tipsy.

"Kakashi, show me that sexy face now." You sat on the silver haired man's lap, running a hand through his hair.

His eye widened in surprise, a blush seeming to creep onto his face. "Um, (Y/N)? Is this what you meant by special?"

You grinned, pinching his cheeks. "Aw, poopkins think I'm special!"

Kurenai tried to hold in her laughter but failed miserably. "This is gold." She wheezed out as she leaned over the table.

Guy and Asuma were laughing too, seeing as you were literally in Kakashi's lap, twirling his hair in your hand.

"You know, you and Haru have the same pretty eyes, I wish you two could've met." You sighed before cuddling into Kakashi's chest. He seemed shocked, but quickly changed when he realized what you meant.

"Was Haru your friend?"

"Yeah... we were best buds. He was kinda like Naruto, but way nicer. He helped me run away from Aunt Fuyu when she..." You trailed off as you clutched your stomach, recalling how you got all of your scars.

Kakashi rubbed your arm, earning a few funny looks from the other Jonin.

You felt your eyes tear up as you remembered what happened to your friend all those years ago. "He was in my arms and then..." You held your arms out in front of you before dropping them heavily.

Everyone went silent, realizing what you were saying.

"(Y/N)..." Kakashi said gently.

You shook your head, wiping the tears away. "I didn't want to do it, but he- he..." You breathed in deeply. "...He told me to go and save them... that's why I came here..."

Kakashi frowned. "Save who?"

You wrapped your arms around yourself, shaking your head before burying it deeper in his chest.

"Not now... I wanna be free a little bit longer..." You yawned before cuddling into Kakashi.

He seemed conflicted, not sure how to react. Everyone watched as he stood up, holding you in his arms bridal style.

"I better take her home now."

Kakashi said good bye to all of the Jonin, walking out of the bar with you in his arms. As he walked down the road, you sighed in bliss, wrapping your arms around his neck.
