"mark, is there anything wrong?"

jeno asked, walking inside the office and sat on the chair in front of the guy that was typing frustratingly on the keyboard. jeno stared at mark for a while, how the frown on his face deepened, his eyes drooping and the way his veins popped out from the force he exerted.

"i'm okay." mark then said while taking his cup of coffee, sipping to it before continuing to do his work.

jeno sighed.

"you're not okay. i'm pretty much sure i know you enough to sense that something was bothering you." jeno voiced out, looking at mark as he just huffed before turning around to meet his eyes.

"is this.. about haechan?"

jeno looked carefully as mark's expression turned grim, his hands clenching. "where do you know?" mark glared at jeno, totally dissatisfied about the fact that the news about donghyuck were going around the office. the last thing he wanted to happen was people to be talking about donghyuck and know that they know, it would've been a hot topic for a while.

"uh, it was that time when doyoung and jaehyun treated me for lunch and there's someone calling jaehyun at that time. taeyong? haechan's brother, if i'm not sure. so somewhere around that time, we heard about what happened to haechan so, yeah. there's also some people that overheard the conversation and it's just.. spread everywhere now."

jeno gulped as mark's glare hardened, now digging holes at his table. he reached out hesitantly for mark's hand, holding it securely on his. "mark, i know how you feel at the moment."

mark's bitter laughter brought a hollow feeling inside jeno.

"how would you know? if i can't even understand what donghyuck were having at this moment, how can you even know what i felt?" mark's eyes were now softening, a tired tone in his voice as he searched for answer from jeno.

"trust me, i know. i've been there mark. i was in haechan's place too, few years ago."

mark's eyes went wide at jeno's statement, the other just smiling still. he let his gaze stayed a while, studying jeno as he tried to comprehend his words.

"if there's someone that can understand him, that would be me mark. i know how it felt to be disgusted of yourself, to hate on yourself, to just disappear from this world, i'm aware of the pain, the hopelessness and burden pushing down on me."

maybe jeno wasn't supposed to say anything, continue his words and let the story of his dark past out to mark but he felt like he need to do it. jeno saw the love and adoration mark had towards donghyuck, but he also saw the uncertainty and frustration building up inside him.

jeno doesn't want mark to regret for not caring about donghyuck enough.

"my first boyfriend at high school was everything i could wish for. the definition of perfect was so close to him. he's everything to me, my world, my life, my whole existence.

but it was unfortunate of me for not seeing his real intentions. i can't see the facts that he only had me with him so he can show off, so he can be proud of it to make the girl he's in love with to be jealous. it's stupid, really. one year and half, we're together for that long. i loved him so much i gave him everything. i wasn't rich but i did anything i can do to let him have what he wanted. be it the car he wished for or the money he wanted."
