Chapter 7 - Her

"It really was you yesterday?" I blurted out even before formal introductions could be made.

I saw him raise an eyebrow and smirk sarcastically.

"Are you telling me you really didn't recognize me?" He asked, clearly not believing this could happen.

I shook my head so vigorously it made me dizzy. "I didn't. I wasn't in a state to be observant yesterday, in case you didn't notice."

He chuckled quietly and it sounded exactly like that guy yesterday.

"It is you," I half whispered, still in a daze. "You sound exactly the same."

I heard a woman's laugh and I turned my head to look at her. I assume this is Dana.

"I'm sorry," she said as she gestured for me to take a seat as they both sat down as well. "I think it's the first time Jason's been recognized for his laugh instead of his face. Am I right?"

She turned to Jason and he gave her a tight smile.

"Anyway, now that you know who he is, I hope you realize the dilemma we're in?" Dana continued, turning her attention back to me.

"Not really..." I started to say but Jason cut me off.

"Wait a minute. I'm still not fully convinced she had nothing to do with it," he said coldly, giving me a hard stare.

I stared back, not following what he meant.

"When we first saw the article, our first theory was that it was planted," Dana spoke up, explaining the accusation being thrown at me.

"What does that mean, exactly? Please tell me in simple words, I don't talk Hollywood."

"Well, to put it plainly, we thought you worked with the papparazzi and intentionally created the situation so they could take a picture and make a story out of it," Dana continued.

I sputtered in surprise and indignation, but before I could voice it out, Dana held out her hand to calm me down.

"I figured out a while ago that that's not the case," she assured me and I huffed.

"That guy, though," she said, pointing at Jason, "is letting his pride get in the way of his logic."

I looked at Jason and he just shrugged at me, neither confirming nor denying Dana's statement.

"Well, for what it's worth," I told him defiantly, "I had nothing to do with that story. I didn't even know about it until I got to the office and my officemates - who are fans of yours, by the way - shoved the article in my face."

It was Dana's turn to look at me questioningly and I rushed to reassure her.

"I didn't tell them it was me, I swear. I even told them I've never met Jason Miller in my life, at least at that time I thought I haven't," I added sheepishly.

"All right," Dana continued in a soothing voice. "But we still have a problem."

I looked at both of them questioningly, not seeing any problem now that we've all cleared the air.
