Twenty: Phil Lester's 32nd Birthday

A/N: I attached one of the edits I made for Phil's B-Day above because I was really proud of it ok sorry back to the oneshot now

Phil had a terrible day. Probably one of the worst he's ever experienced. He got an email saying he was being fired due to budget cuts; a call from his landlord saying he'd be evicted in about a week; he got attacked by a squirrel AGAIN; his friends blew him off cause they forgot his birthday; and to top it all off, his brother now hates him because of a very dumb argument about a grapefruit (don't ask).

So now Phil is sat on the floor of his apartment, sobbing violently and eating cereal straight out of a box. What a great way to spend his birthday. The only thing Phil has to look forward to was the surprise his best friend Dan had promised him.

Daniel Howell is Phil's best friend of 10 years. They met each other when Phil was 22 and Dan was 18 because they'd moved into the apartments directly across from each other. They'd bonded immediately over a shared love of Muse. Since then they've been the best of friends and inseparable.

Phil would be lying if he said he didn't have the slightest crush on the mocha eyed boy. In his defense, it's hard to be around the perfection of Dan Howell 24/7 and not fall in love with him.

Dan had told Phil of a 'special surprise' he had planned for Phil's birthday at the beginning of the week. Since then Phil's been waiting and speculating on it. So as Phil sits dejectedly upon his floor, he tries to keep his spirits up with thoughts of the surprise Dan had in store.

As if on cue, Phil's phone rings and the caller ID informed him that it was Dan calling. He tries his best to contain his sobs as he picks up.

"Hello?" Dan's voice rings in his ears. The sounds makes a choked sob escape Phil's lips. Dan's tone immediately changed to one of concern.

"Phil? Are you ok Lion?" The affectionate pet name only made Phil cry harder. "Hold on one second." There was rustling and the sound of a door opening and shutting on Dan's end before the door to Phil's apartment opened. In came a very concerned Dan. Once he spotted Phil's broken form, he ran to him and enveloped him in a caring embrace. He nuzzles his nose into the older's hair. Phil melted into the gentle touch. Dan continues to comfort Phil until his violentsobs subside into small sniffles.

"Aww Philly what happened?" Dan mumbles into his raven hair. Phil told him everything. About his job, his eviction, his brother, his friends, the squirrel, the grapefruit, all of it. The feeling of Dan's strong arms around him kept him from crying. Dan listened patiently to every word.

"This has been the worst birthday ever." Phil concludes before breaking into another fit of sobs. Dan's grip around him tightens protectively.

"Phil you know I'd let you stay with me as long as you need. You don't have to worry about being evicted Lion, I'll take care of you." Dan says.

"Yeah but I don't want to be a burden." Phil replies causing Dan to kiss the top of his head affectionately. Phil's stomach does a little flip at the kiss.

"You could never be a burden you spork, I'll always be here for you if you need." Phil blushes slightly and nods sheepishly. He turns around to wrap his arms around Dan as well. "We can do the surprise tomorrow if you're not feeling up to it."

"No! Let's do it. That's all I've been looking forward to all day." Phil admits. Dan chuckles.

"Alright then. Come on!" He gets up and gestures towards the door. Phil walks out the door and feels a pair of hands snake over his eyes.

"Daaaaaan," He whines. The brunette giggles adorably.

"It's a surprise!" He exclaims. Phil sighs and allows the boy to lead him to the destination. Dan suddenly stops. He uncovers Phil's eyes to reveal a chocolate cake, clearly hand made by Dan. On the top it reads: Happy 32nd Birthday Phil!! The cake is a bit lopsided, and the writing is almost illegible, but it means everything to Phil.

"Dan, you did this for me?" Dan smiles and nods. Phil stares at him in disbelief and love, and he realizes maybe all his feelings for Dan aren't totally platonic. Dan then pulls out a poorly wrapped package and hands it to Phil.

"Open it." He says. Phil carefully begins to open the gift before growing impatient and just ripping into it, which earns a chuckle from Dan. Inside the wrapping is a beautifully made photo album. Each page contains a bunch of pictures of Dan and Phil and their friendship throughout the years. Phil looks up at Dan to see he's blushing. When Phil reaches the last page, he notices a note tucked in with one of the photos. He pulled it out and began to read.

Dear Phil,

Happy Birthday Lion!! I made you this photo album to commemorate our friendship. I don't know what the future holds for us but I hope you'll never forget me when you inevitably move away and become wildly successful because you are an amazing and talented person.

I have something to admit. Something I've been hiding from you for far too long and I finally need to tell you. Please don't hate me.

I like you.

Like, as more than a friend.

I'm sorry, I really am. I don't want to ruin our friendship because boyfriend or not you mean the world to me. But, if you want to not be friends with me anymore, I completely understand. It's your decision. Just know that I am willing to forget how I feel if you want to stay friends.

Phil is speechless. He doesn't know what to say. He has had a huge crush on Dan for the past at least 9 years how the heck does Dan think he doesn't like him? He looks up at Dan and somehow finds confidence and the right words.

"Dan?" He questions. Dan looks up with worry and doubt written all over his face.

"Y-Yeah?"

Phil smirks as he says, "You're an idiot." He walks up to Dan and smashes their lips together.

Boom. Fireworks, explosions, supernovas, planets align.

Dan's lips are soft against Phil's as the share the tender kiss. It's filled with love and bliss. They kiss in perfect harmony as if they've done it millions of times before. Each boy's head is spinning and neither of them can really think about anything but the other. When their lungs are screaming from the lack of oxygen, they pull away and rest their foreheads together as they catch their breath.

"In that case I have one more present for you," Dan comments as he looks into Phil's kaleidoscope eyes. "Phil Lester, will you do me the honor of becoming my boyfriend?" Phil smiles the widest he has all day and nods excitedly pulling Dan in for yet another kiss.

A/N: Ahhhh that sucked I'm sorry I haven't been very inspired recently. But I hope you enjoyed anyway it's not the worst I've done.
Happy Birthday to my gorgeous angel bean Philly. You are truly amazing and your videos never fail to make me smile. You deserve a lot more recognition and credit then you get. I hope your day is the best and that 32 treats you well!!! (they grow up so fast 😭)
And to you guys thank you so much for supporting this book I love you all so much and I hope you all have an amazing day!!!!!! This book is almost at 500 reads wtf that's crazy!!! I cant even thank you all enough!!!
