Chapter 1: Nightmares

Sawyer's Age: 5

Meredith had taken the night shift in the medical center leaving Chris, her husband to watch and put the kids to bed. Chris was head of the mechanics and engineers on the Ark. No one else had ever held such a high position in his specialties making him a valuable piece of their survival

Chris was taken from his thoughts when a loud gasp came from Sawyer's bed. His head turned to see young Sawyer, face red with tears streaming down her cheeks and she attempted to stop a sob from releasing her mouth 

Chris ran over to his daughter and scooped her in his arms rubbing her back. A sob escaped her lips as she wrapped her arms around her fathers neck. Chris sung out soft coos in the girls ear to calm her down. Her body shook in his arms as she continued to cry 

"It was so real, he took her Daddy he took her" Sawyer cried out. Sawyer unwrapped herself to talk to her Father "Who? What are you talking about?" Chris asked confused as he stared at his little girl "The Chancellor, he took Mommy and he was coming for me" Sawyer answered as Chris rubbed her face with his thumb 

"No, baby its ok, Mommy is safe I promise" Chris comforted and pulled Sawyer into his arms once again. He cradled the 5 year old as her tears began to end and the redness left her face. Her breathing became normal again as she calmed down 

"Your ok, I got you"  Chris said kissing her head 

That night Meredith entered her family's unit to see her husband squeezed into Sawyer's small bed. She smiled her eyes low from how tired she was. She placed her bag down and walked over to the loves of her life placing a kiss on each of their heads. A small coo sounded the unit making her head turn 

"Hey baby" Meredith smiled as she walked over to baby Colton who laid in a bassinet. "Hows my big boy" Meredith smiled lifting her baby from the bassinet. She slowly rocked him to calm the loud boy down. His eyes slowly closed and the big smile on his face displayed. Meredith smiled kissing Colton before whispering "You have an amazing family Colton Jameson" As if he heard a smiled appeared on his face making Meredith giggle

"No way!" Sawyer said in shock as she looked at her best friend Atlas's new toy. "I know isn't it so cool. My Mom said it was made by this woman named Ms. Aurora Blake" Atlas said smirking as he showed the tiny blonde 

The 2 were interrupted by Chris as he entered the room clapping his hands. He tossed the kids their makeshift backpacks. Sawyer bursted out into giggles as it his Atlas's face "Ok, Colton is asleep and Sherri will be here any minute so lets go" Chris instructed. The door to their unit slid open and the 2 followed Chris out 

Atlas was dropped off first leaving Sawyer and her father to walk alone. Sawyer followed behind walking sassily making Chris laugh. 

"Okay, off you go" Chris said pushing the girl off. Sawyer walked off waving bye. She abruptly turned and sprinted to her father throwing her arms around him "Bye Daddy" "bye Princess your gonna have a great day" she nodded at his response and turned walking into the classroom.
