Chapter 2: Surprise Inspections

Sawyer's Age: 10

With Sawyer not having class today Chris was obligated to take the troublemaker to work with him seeing as Meredith took Sawyer with her last time. So here the 2 stood tightening bolts on Chris's new invention. He had upgraded yet another water purifier

"Now put that there" Chris instructed. Sawyer nodded and placed the bolt where her father pointed to. "Wrench" Sawyer reached her small arm down and lifted up the tool before passing it to her father. He tightened the bolt before passing the tool back 

"And done" Chris smiled wiping his hands on his work pants. "I'll start the water" Sawyer offered. Chris nodded and Sawyer turned the knob. Clear water came out the spout making the duo cheer and give each other high fives

"Ok, now go get Colton from class" Chris instructed. Sawyer nodded and cleaned her black hands on a wet rag. She turned picking up her bag and throwing it over her shoulder "Oh and next time you wear a skirt to training i'm taking half of your rations for a week" Chris joked making Sawyer laugh

"Yea, you can try old man" Sawyer responded. Chris fake gasped pretending he was hurt, giggles fell from the girl's lips

"Alright, catch you later alligator"  Sawyer smiled as she headed for the door 

"In a while crocodile" Chris responded smiling at his daughter who he was so proud of 

"If your lucking rubber ducky" Sawyer said finishing the 2's little saying. They both laughed and Sawyer tapped on the wall as she walked out the door turning the corner

She made her way down the halls heading for the school rooms. She felt her body collide with someone else's making her groan as she was pushed against the wall 

"I'm so sorry" a familiar voice rushed out. Sawyer's eyes shot open to see a Atlas. He looked up as well seeing his best friend 

"Actually, never mind" he smirked making Sawyer shake her head. "You are the biggest loser i've ever met" Sawyer said pushing him off of her 

"Who knew becoming a teenager made you a clutz" she teased as Atlas started to follow her "Who knew becoming double digits made you a jerk" Atlas fought back flashing Sawyer one of his big smiles that made the girls melt

She shook her head looking down "Where are you going?" the brunette asked as he followed her. "Gotta pick up Colton" The girl nodded "Ah, I remember being in kindergarten"  Atlas said as he sighed thinking of 'the old days' 

Sawyer shook her head and took off running making Atlas stumble to chase her. "Really Jameson! No warning" The boy yelled  following the blonde beauty who's hair flew behind her while she ran. Her skirt didn't limit her in any way as she ran as fast as she could dodging people

"Kids! No running!" Meredith yelled as the 2 trouble makers ran past the medical center where she was working. She shook her head smiling as the 2 yelled out "sorry" but continued to run

"I win!" Sawyer cheered as she made it to the kindergarten class before Atlas. He came in the hall seconds after panting for air "No fair, you just took off" Atlas argued as the 2 caught their breath 

"Plus, your a faster runner than me" Atlas continued. Sawyer smiled seeing her 5 year old brother come running out of his classroom. She bet down and their bodies collided
