Chapter 17

2 weeks later

Cassie's POV

'I was holding a bundle. I looked down and saw that her eyes were looking straight up at me. I felt tears fill my

eyes as she called for me.'

I woke up in a sweat, heart pounding.

I let out a huge breath as I realized it was just a dream. Or, a nightmare.

Whatever.

I sighed again, and plopped back down onto the pillow.

I felt tears fill my eyes once again as I thought about the beautiful child I had lost.

It was eating away at me, and I couldn't make it stop.

If I would have done something different, maybe I would still be pregnant, and happy.

I was so depressed that I didn't want to move ever again.

As a tear started to roll down my cheek, Adam's arm slid around me, pulling me closer in the bed.

He kissed my neck softly.

"Are you okay?" He asked me quietly.

I turned over to face him, eyes bloodshot.

"No." I whimpered, before more tears made their way down my face.

Adam's face dropped seeing me this way, and he pulled me as close as possible.

My head was in his chest, as I started to cry silently.

"Sssh, Cass, it's okay.." Adam tried to comfort me, but I could hear the crack in his voice now.

I took a deep breath, trying to collect myself.

I looked up at Adam, a small, forced smile on my face.

"Are you okay?" I asked him this time.

He kissed me passionately for a moment before responding.

"As long as I have you, I will be. We're in this together, baby."

I cuddled closer to him, sighing.

"I love you, Adam."

Adam kissed my temple before returning his love.

I was in the kitchen, making some tea to somehow lift my spirits.
