Authors note: this story is based on a song that I am completely obsessed with. The song is called 'In Real Life' by Demi Lovato

..............

"I'll be right back I'm going to talk the boys." Before I could even protest, my fiancé had instantly walked away, leaving me alone to mingle with no one. I huff in annoyance as I take another sip of champagne.

Kai has asked me to accompany him to his office cocktail party. I at first thought he wanted to spend time with me but I'm slowly realizing that it wasn't the case. He just wanted to show me off as if I was an object that people can ogle at.

Needing some air, I slowly walk out to the balcony and sigh in relief. I was never too fond of these kind of parties where I had no place to speak my mind. All I needed to do was smile and say hello.

I look inside and slowly feel a frown be drawn onto my face seeing my fiancé laughing with his colleagues. Recently, in our house, his laughters and smiles was a rare sight.

I don't know what happened to us.

Before, our house was always filled with laughter, joy and contentment. Our love and desire for each other was so strong that I had thought nothing can ruin or change it. But, recently, everything started to change and I didn't know how to fix it.

Before, I would wake up with roses and many kisses  that would make me believe it was always going to be this way. Until he had gotten a new job that had his attention more than I had. Since his job he stopped saying 'I love you's', he stopped holding me, kissing me and just refused to give me any ounce of affection that I so badly craved from him.

The loneliest I feel is when he is with me.

That's why I prefer to enter my dream state because at least in my dreams I was loved.

He would be standing beside me as our hearts collided, woke me up with roses and kisses but then I'd wake up and realize, this is real life.

"Bored of the party too huh?" A smooth, gentle voice asks from behind me. I was so engrossed to my own thoughts that I hadn't realized a tall, slender figure entering the balcony.

I turn my head slightly to see one of my fiancé's colleagues smiling softly at me with her full lips.

Lalisa Manoban.

I've seen her a few times but never had the chance to get acquainted with her since I stuck with Kai like a magnet the whole time.

"Is it that obvious?" I ask. She shrugs and chuckles as she goes to stand beside me as we turn our attention to the night sky.

"No, I'm just very observant to the things that stand out." She casually says, catching me off guard from her boldness. I feel my cheeks heat up as I feel her eyes boring into the side of my face. She laughs softly,

"Don't worry I'm bored too that I feel like I'm losing my mind." She huffs out. I turn towards her and couldn't help but scan her features.

She really was beautiful.

I unconsciously let my eyes travel from her giant, doe eyes, to her cute button nose, to her sexy plump lips that was causing my lips to tingle. They were so full and so inviting.

Feeling ridiculous for shamelessly scanning her features I quickly avert my eyes to my half empty glass of champagne. I clear my throat,

"So what makes you attend these parties?" I ask. She shrugs and takes a sip of her wine,

"It's not a requirement to come but since I work for this business it's like I have to, if that makes sense?" She says with her eyebrows furrowed while rubbing the back of her neck shyly. I giggle softly and nod,

"Makes total sense." She smiles wide towards me and I nearly melted at the sight. Her smile was something I knew I would never forget and that was confusing the hell out of me.

We stare at each other for a moment but I quickly avert my eyes back to the scenery as her intense gaze was causing my heart to hammer out of my chest. There was something about her that was making my mind grow hazy.

"Why are you out here by yourself?" She asks. I shrug,

"Needed some air." I shortly say. It wasn't a complete lie, being forced to stay around that environment was suffocating me. Lalisa nods in understanding not wanting to pry too much.

She loosens her tie and I couldn't help but admire the way her collar bones were being displayed as she unbuttoned a few buttons from her shirt.

Some lady suits never really fit woman, but Lalisa is definitely someone that looks like she invented it. Just the way the suit hugged her body nicely was so unique. She was indeed a living Barbie doll.

"You know I don't think I properly introduced myself." I hear Lalisa say, removing my lingering gaze from her figure. I flicker my eyes to her face and blushed slightly seeing the corners of her lips lift into a sexy smirk, indicating that she indeed caught my wandering eyes.

"My name is Lalisa Manoban, pleased to make your acquaintance." She says offering her hand to me. I chuckle towards her formalities and place my hand in hers, shivering towards the shooting spark from the warm, gentle contact.

This feeling was ghostly, never have I felt this electricity so intense from one single touch from a person. Sad to say but I had never felt it with my fiancé.

"M..my name is Jennie, Jennie Kim." I inwardly sigh in content towards the softness of her hands. It was strange to see and feel my hand fit perfectly against a strangers hand. And, compared to Lalisa's, Kai's hand was always rough and strong. But, with hers, it was soft to the touch and gentle. It gave me a sense of security.

I feel my heart beat begin to quicken and my eyes to widen as she takes a step closer and stares down at me, not removing her hand from mine. I look up into her eyes and held in my breath as the intensity returned.

With this close proximity, I was surrounded by her warmth and addictive sweet scent. And with the way she was looking down at me, our height difference could definitely stand out in a blind mans eyes.

"You know Miss Kim, if I was your fiancé I would never leave your side in this suffocating environment." She says softly. I gulp nervously as she places a strand of my hair behind my ear while intentionally tracing her fingers lightly on my cheeks with her free hand. I feel my breath begin to quicken as I felt a shiver go down my spine towards the way she stared at my parted lips.

"You are beautiful." She whispers ever so softly. I was speechless, frozen, stunned. I couldn't think straight. How could one single person, whom I had just met, create so many different emotions in less than a hour.

Hearing footsteps creeping closer, we both quickly pull apart and avert our eyes away from each other.

"Jennie I want to introduce you to boss's wife." Kai says as he steps inside the balcony, staring at me blankly. Still feeling flustered and not being able to trust my own voice, I send him a short nod. He turns away and walks back inside. I sigh in disappointment for having to go back inside and began to walk back inside.

However, before I can enter, a soft hand quickly snatched onto my wrist stopping me in place. I turn around to see Lalisa smiling softly towards me with a look so unfamiliar to me.

"Have a good night Jennie." The way she said my name instantly caused the heat to return into my cheeks. But the seeing her vibrant smile, I couldn't help but match it and feel a light sensation be created in my chest.

"You too Lalisa." I quietly gasp as she slowly lifts up my hand and places a soft, sweet kiss on the back of my hand. She brings it down and stares into my eyes,

"Call me Lisa."

That night, for the first time in my life I finally slept at ease with the image of Lisa's beautiful smile in my mind.

'She's different.'
