As Cassie pulls into a parking spot at the cute cafe, I relish in how thankful I am to have a friend like her.
"Hey Cassie?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm really happy that you're still friends with me after all this time, even though I haven't been the greatest friend at times."
Cassie smiles. "Aw Margot, did you spill all of your uwus on the floor? Where'd this sappiness come from?"
"I'm not sure, I guess I've just been thinking about loads of different things that I haven't thought about in a while. Something about being back home is making me more introspective."
"Interesting. Well, let's go inside before you start crying," Cassie laughs.
As we walk into Breadhive, I remember all of the afternoons during high school I spent here doing homework while eating or drinking whatever seasonal item they had on the menu.
"Damn, I missed this place."
"It's not the same without you Margot."
We walk up to the counter to order, and I decide to get an iced latte and a turkey panini. Cassie orders what she always did when we were in high school, a cappuccino and an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese.
After we order, we sit down in our the booth we always used to. As I lean back into the wooden bench, a wave of nostalgia covers me like a blanket.

I haven't thought about my life before London in a long time. I thought I wanted to forgot about my past, and only focus on where I am now. But sitting in this cafe with my childhood best friend makes me wonder if I went wrong somewhere. Or maybe the path I've chosen was the perfect one for me? I hope I find out sooner rather than later.
Our food is quickly brought out to us, and we immediately begin to dig in. I quietly moan as I bite into my warm sandwich, Cassie doing the same with her bagel. As we look up at each other while chewing, we both fall into a fit of laughter over how ridiculous we probably look.
"Hey, I haven't had good food like this in a minute Cass."
"I know I know, I just think it's funny that eating food makes us moan."
"Well we wouldn't be trendy girls if liking food wasn't one of our personality traits now would we?" I raise my eyebrows.
"Fair enough," Cassie says as she takes another bite.

After we finish eating and polish off our coffees, my best friend and I bring our plates and cups up to the front counter and then make our way back to Cassie's car.
As we hop inside, I place my hand on my stomach.
"Well damn, that was good."
"You ain't gotta tell me twice," Cassie says, mimicking my hand gestures.
After we sit in silence for a minute, a thought pops into my had. "Do you think I should text Harry? I haven't heard anything from him since yesterday morning when he left my house."
"You have the rehearsal dinner tonight right?"
"It's tomorrow night actually."
"Oh. Well then how about text him saying 'hey harry, can't wait to see you tomorrow' with a winky face?"
"Oohhhh very risqué Cassie, I like."
I pull out my phone from my back pocket and shoot the curly haired boy a message.
margot: hey harry, looking forward to seeing you tomorrow ;)
"I changed up the wording a little bit, but thank you for the the text inspiration Cassie."
"You're welcome, and I actually like to call it 'text-piration.'"
I face palm. "Remind me why I'm still friends with you?"
"Because I'm really fucking hot and the funniest person you know."
"Oh you're right, I don't know why I keep forgetting that."

When we're about three minutes away from my house, my phone vibrates on my lap.
harry: can't wait princess :)
As I read the message out loud to Cassie, she squeals before I can even finish my sentence.
"He called you princess?!?!? That's so freaking cute I'm gonna cry!!!!"
"Oh goodness calm down," I laugh. "But it is pretty cute right?"
"Fuck yes! What are you gonna say back?"
"I wasn't gonna reply, should I?"
"Oh yeah you're right don't reply, it'll make him even more excited hopefully."
"That's what I'm going for."
As Cassie reaches my house and turns into my driveway, she gets out with me so we can say goodbye.
She grabs me and pulls me in for the tight hugs she's known for, and gives me a kiss on my cheek.
"I'm so happy you're home Margot, even if it's just for a little bit."
"I'm glad to be home too love, I'll see you soon okay?"
"I love you."
"I love you Cassie."
I watch my best friend get back into her car and drive away from my living room window with a soft smile on my face.
