Lionfish's gaze had drifted to Naida's legs and he smirked. "She's got some nice legs." Lionfish muttered a bit too loud and Naida blushed.

"Back to the question." She muttered back and when Lionfish realized she heard her, his smirk widened.

"Yeah," Ray shook his head. "So mermaids and mermen are children of the ocean, that's what makes us brothers. We can't be seen by or interact with normal humans, only the ones we were made for."

"The human's sexual orientation determines whether they get a maid or a man," Shark added.

"We can be made to love someone or to kill them. The killers, sirens, lure the people they were made for with their voice, looks, and other gifts they may possess. The lovers, merfolk, gift the people they were made for with their special powers. Merfolk have two abilities, long-distance blessings, such as control over other things, and close-range gifts, which give their person powers." Ray explained, looking at her intently.

Mako spoke up. "We've all given you our long-distance gifts, and most of us recently gave you our close gifts. Lionfish's was your underwater sight, Shark's was your hearing, Ray's was your breath-"

"So you were the one who kissed me!" Naida hissed at Ray.

"I was helping you!" Ray defended himself. "You couldn't breath!"

"That was sexual harassment! You could've taken me to the surface!" Naida pouted.

Ray looked like he wanted to argue, but thought better of it and resolved to folding his arms and shaking his head in defeat.

"As I was saying..." Mako continued. "Ray's was your breath, mine is your emotions, but don't worry, I swear I won't use them on you. My power is intended for things you and I aren't comfortable with. Krait's is-" Mako was cut off by Krait hitting his tail with his own. Mako looked accusingly at him and Krait shook his head. Mako sighed. "Krait will tell you his when he's ready."

Naida pouted a little, but let it go, understanding everyone had their secrets, though seeing as how they had kidnapped her, she deserved to know every one of the secrets they kept from her. "How old are you guys?" She asked.
