"Well somebody give you a gold star." Mako laughed. "It was kinda obvious though."
Naida laughed and lightly shoved him, teasingly. "Hey, I was wondering, how come you have a normal merfolk tail, but your brothers and Betta, have a tail that resemble fish?"
"I was wondering the same thing! What kind of fish are you?" Lionfish spouted.
"Lionfish! You don't just ask a mermaid what kind of fish she is!" Mako hissed and was going to hit him, and Lionfish pulled up his hands to intercept, but suddenly Betta doubled over and burst out in raw laughter, the kind of laugh that only comes out when you truly find something hilarious.
"If Krait was here, I wouldn't have to ask her." Lionfish muttered angrily while Betta was still laughing uncontrollably.
"Ahahahahaha! You guys are a riot! Mako, you're cool and all, but take a note from Lionfish and lighten up a little. Hahaha... yeah, I'm a marine betta, they're pretty cool." She finally managed to get her giggles under control, and her expression became a little more serious. "Mako, can I speak to you for a moment? Alone." She said. Mako nodded and swam away with her to the cliff Naida had swum off to.
"So, who were you talking to when you went over there? I heard your voice a few times." Lionfish asked and swam in front of her, laying on his back as he softly flicked his tail.
"Myself." She blurted, not knowing what else to say.
"You were talking to yourself?" He echoed doubtfully.
"Yeah I was, sometimes I need professional advice." She snarked.
Lionfish laughed but continued. "Advice on what?" He pressed.
"How to deal with prying little boys." She smirked and poked his forehead.
Lionfish barked a laugh and shook his head at her. "I know right, Mako's so annoying!" Naida rolled her eyes and smiled. This had become a thing Lionfish and her did often nowadays, she would tease him, and he would transfer the tease to someone else. There were no harsh feelings behind the words they shared, it was all in the name of good fun.
Shark swam up to Lionfish and Naida. "Naida, you heard Betta warn us about Sirens in the area, and for your own good, I would appreciate it if you stayed close until we're in a safe zone again. Sirens, though they were made to kill a particular person, most won't skip out on the chance to dine on flesh." He warned ominously.
"Most?" She questioned and Shark's breath hitched.
"Very few sirens fight with every fiber of their being against their instincts to kill, maybe if they believe their human doesn't actually deserve it, they've grown fond of them, something or someone is stopping them, or whatever other reason they may have, but all others are perfectly happy with their bloodlust," Shark warned darkly.
