"I'm sorry, what?" She Asked, looking between the ring and Tom.

"Will you marry me?" He asked again.

"But we've known each other for less than a year." She Said, looking increasingly distressed.

"When you know you know." He said, feeling less and less calm.

"But, this is too fast, all too fast." She Said.

"No, not with what we mean to each other." He said, trying to manipulate her once more.

"What do I mean to you Tom? How do I know I'm not just your meal ticket?" She Asked.

"Because I love you. More than anyone ever thought possible." Said Tom, trying to say the right thing.

"But why, why do you love me?"

"Because of the way you make me feel, your smile and the sound of your voice. And because you are a good person." He Said.

"I just don't know, I don't know if I can trust someone I barely know." She Said.

"You know me." Said Tom.

"No, I never thought you would be capable of something like this, and I wanted to give you a chance to tell me, you know so you could explain, but.." she took off the ring he had given her months ago. He looked at it, how had she known?

"Done what?" He asked, playing the fool.

"I know it's a Horcrux, I know you killed someone." Said Freya, sounding heart broken. "And then you never told me."

"Freya, I-" he Said, pulling her up from her seat by her arms gently.

"Please don't, I can't be trusted around you." She Said quietly.

"It was my father." He said.

"Did he deserve it?" Asked Freya, "does anyone deserve to die?"

"He did, for what he did to me." Said Tom, darkly.

"Who are you to decide that? Who made you judge jury and executioner?"

"He was a terrible person." He Said.

"You should've told me." She Said.

"Well I would've if I had known you would react so Well." He Said, sarcastically.

"How could you keep something like this from me, let alone do something like this." She Asked.

"It's not like you don't have your secrets." He Said, his anger now getting the best of him.

"What?" Asked Freya.

"Who is Dalton? And what did he do to you?" Asked Tom,

Suddenly Freya was very still her eyes looked as if she was watching a horror moving in her mind.

"Freya?" He asked.

"He was my father's business associate." She Said.

"What did he do?"

"He was touchy." She Said. "Too touchy. I'm sorry, I can't talk about this, can I go? Is there an elevator or something I can take?"

"No." Said Tom, putting together what she had just said he was getting angrier at the man every passing second.

"That's too bad, maybe you could make one." Said Freya.

"Stop trying to change the subject."

"Maybe Hogwarts needs a secret swimming pool." She Said, avoiding eye contact.

"How far did he go?"

"Too far." She Said.

"You mean I wasn't your first?" He asked.

"No, you weren't. But you were the first person I'd ever loved." She Said almost at a whisper.

"I'll kill him." He said.

"He's in Azkaban." Said Freya. "Frank thought it would be too small a punishment to allow him to be executed."

"You know, I rather like Frank." Said Tom.

She was crying now, and the room had a golden tinge to it.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you." Said Freya. "I've sort of blocked that part of my life out."

"It's alright."

"But you killed someone." Said Freya. "Someone you never even gave a chance."

"He never gave me a chance." Said Tom.

"He never knew, honestly Merope had drugged him and lied to him, do you really think he would have believed her?"

"Are you defending him?"

"No. All I'm saying is you could've given him a chance."

"What can I do?" He asked,

"I don't trust you, Tom." Said Freya.

"How can I regain your trust?"

Freya ignored him. "You kept on with your death cult when I asked you not to, you to kill muggle borns, who have done nothing to you, and you crave the absolutism of power over the world that I detest. You will stop at nothing to get power. You would even kill." She spoke slowly and softly.

"Please, Freya you are mine, you were always meant to be mine. I can't let you go now. It would be like giving up the sun. How can I make you stay?"

"I don't want to belong to you. How can I love you when I can't trust you?"

"You don't love me?" He asked, feeling as though the weight of the world was on his chest.

"I love you, I will always love you, but I can't be with someone who lies to me."

"You will want to be with me." He Said as he pulled her almost roughly into him arms. She gasped slightly as his arms wrapped around her tightly in a hug. "Because despite your protests, you belong to me."

He pulled away ever so slightly and kissed her. He smiled into the kiss when he felt her kiss back. But suddenly she pulled away.

"I can't do this, I'm so sorry, Tom. I can't it's too much. It's over; take back your Horcrux.  And leave me alone, if you can't change than I don't want to be with you. Goodbye."

She took off the ring and placed it on the table as she made her way to the entrance of the chamber.

Tom simply remained and watched her go uncertain of what to do. When she was out of sight he could have sworn he heard something push through the air like wings.

It had been five hours since she had walked out of his life. Since he had ruined everything. Since he had failed to manipulate her into being with him. He tried to breathe but found it tremendously difficult. He stared at the ring on the table. The promise ring she had so gratefully accepted. He collected himself and left the chamber. He went directly to his private head boy dorm. He reached under his bed and pulled out his box containing all things Freya. There were pictures she had given him and pictures she hadn't known had been taken. He hated that he couldn't hate her.

He had only one thing on his mind. He had to get Freya back.
