Aditya and Zoya sat down.
Zoya started.
"I'm telling you this, Because I trust you. Don't break my trust, please." Zoya said.
"Trust me." Aditya said confidently.
And there Zoya let out her feelings.

[Zoya's POV]

I was probably five years old. I was doing my homework and as soon as I heard the door bell, I ran to open it hoping that it would be my dad. But it wasn't just my dad, There was another woman too.
My dad is a lawyer so he mostly stays out.
My mom is a doctor so she has many night shifts.
My dad was drunk that night. That lady put my dad on the living room couch and was leaving, But before she left she turned to me.
I was scared.
She pulled me out, Grabbing my hand which had left marks.
She came close to me with her angry eyes and she said, "I feel bad for you."
I was confused.
"Yes, Your dad is going to leave your mom soon and so will your mom. You'll be left alone, Wandering in the streets like a beggar even when you are rich."
Tears poured down my cheeks like a stream.
"No, It's a lie. " I tried denying.
But she didn't stop.
"Of course child. If your dad has won the case then you would not see all this. It's your dad's fault." She growled.
"Anyways it has become true, That the parents' faults reflects on the children." She said and waa going to leave.
She bent down.
"If you are left out, Then never come to me or don't even try looking for your parents."
I was scared.
I locked myself in the room and stayed there for a whole day.
I was traumatised.
I skipped school.
No one cared.
Whatever that lady has said was true?
And A day later, My mom came back.
She saw me crying in the corner of the room.
She rushed to me.
I told her everything.

Some days passed, It all felt like a dream.
Everything was fine.
But one day,
My mom packed all her bags including mine.
My mom didn't tell anything.
We shifted to a new city.
Without dad.
New school.
New friends.
I adjusted somehow.
I kept asking my mom about dad and why we shifted there,
But she didn't reply.
Was everything coming true?
I was returning back from school and there she was, Again.
That lady.
She smiled at me.
Evil.
She came closer.
I wasn't afraid,
Just angry.
"Is this child angry?" She said.
I turned my face.
"Haha, It doesn't matter anymore. Well everything happened like I said. Your dad."
She said and started to laugh.
"It's just your mom now." She said with a wide smile.
"Take care." She said and Was going.
"Why are you doing this?" I gathered courage to ask that.
Did I regret it?
"Ask your mom that. She's here" That lady said.
I turned.
My mom was there.
My mom pulled me to home.
I asked my mom all the questions I had in my mind.
Where is dad?
Who is she?
Why does she always come to us?
Are you going away from me?
Am I never going to see dad?
Why are w-
All she did was slap.
Slapped me hard.
She didn't say a word.
But cried.
Cried.cried.cried.
It was a weakness of mine to see my mom cry.
Without asking her anything else.
I was with her.
I followed whatever she said.
Again, We left.
To a new city.
A new school.
New friends.
But I was introverted.

I was at home. My mom went to work.
I heard a noise.
I was scared.
I went to look who that was.
It was my dad.
Finally.
I didn't know how to react.
Should I be happy or sad?
He had teary eyes,
He didn't look like how he was before.
"Zoya" he said.
I just stood there.
Until something hit me from behind.
Everything went black.

It was blurry.
I wasn't able to see anything.
My head hurted alot.
I helped myself up
I saw my mom. Sitting beside me in a chair, She was glancing at some papers.
I was in a hospital.
"Mom" I wispered.
She came to me, "I'm sorry" She said.
I was confused and worried.
Without saying a word, She left.
She left me alone.
In the hospital room.
All I could do was stay there.
I was stay put in that room.
Left alone, No one were there.
I couldn't talk to anyone.
I just waited.
Waited for my mom.
' I'm sorry' Were the only words ringing in my head.
Did it all become true?
I started to draw in my diary.
That diary knew all of my feelings.

Some days later, They started giving me medicines.
Telling that I have seizures.
I didn't.
I didn't have seizures, I knew it.
I tried taking the medicines,
Whenever I took them It didn't feel right.
I felt drowsy each time I took medicines.
So I stopped.
Whenever they gave medicines, I threw them away.
I was used to the hospital food.

Finally, I was allowed to the canteen of the hospital.
It was either the canteen or the room for months.

Once when I was going to the canteen, I heard a child crying in the opposite room.
I took a closer look.
It was a boy.
He seemed to be the same age as mine.
His leg was hurt.
I came to know later that he cried just by looking at the bandage.
He was so innocent.

Then finally my mom came one day.
I rushed to her.
I was happy.
She didn't respond.
"Is everything okay? Are we going?" I asked.
"Yes we are. But you have to stay here." She said.
I became angry.
"I've put you in a different school. It's a hostel." She continued.
I was just angry.
I shouted but she didn't say anything and left.
That was the first time someone came to see me, And it was the last.

I was going to the canteen, I noticed that the boy from the opposite room was struggling to go to his mom.
I stopped him.
He looked at me confused.
"Shall we be friends?" I asked him.
It was the first time I was able to talk to someone in the hospital.
"Okay" he said.

It was my first day of school.
It was very new.
I headed to my class immediately.
There I noticed him.
The boy.
I was happy.
I had a friend.
I could talk to someone freely.
As days passed,
We became closer.
Friends.
Best friends.
He was able to understand me and I was able to.
I felt more myself with him.
He was my best friend.
Everyday, After the lights were out, We would hang out.

My roommate,Mona and I became great friends too.
We were friends since then.
Mona, the boy and I always hung out together.
Everything went great until I received a letter from my mom.
"We have to move."
It said.
Again.

I worked. Hard.
I earned some money to serve myself.
Then finally one day, I ran away from my house.
Leaving everything behind.
My old self behind.
The afraid Zoya behind.
I went in search for a new life.
A better life.
A clearer world.
--

Aditya was shocked.
He didn't know a smile hid all of this pain.
He just liked her more.
He fell harder for her.
He didn't know how it was going to end.
He wanted to give her all the happiness from this world.
Just for her.

Later Zoya tried making an omlette for Aditya.
She found a recipe too.
She was satisfied by the way it came out.
Until she put it in the plate.
"It looked easy in the video." She mumbled to herself.
"What happened?" Aditya said from behind.
He was so close to her that she could sense him breathing.
She turned slowly to face him.
They were too close.
He went closer.
Zoya wasn't able to move.
He has put his hands on either sides of the table so she was locked there.
She shut her eyes close.
He nearly hugged her but his gaze was somewhere else.
He looked over her neck and sniffed.
"Did you cook something?" He asked.
Zoya opened her eyes.
He went away from her.
She just stared at him.
He raised his eyebrows teasing her.
She turned and took the plate.
"Umm..I..did..here...that" Zoya stuttered.
"Is it for me?" He asked.
Zoya nodded slowly.
"But it's not that good, I'll make another one." Zoya said and was about to take it out.
Aditya moved swiftly and stood in front of her.
"You made it for me so it's mine." He said and took the plate from her.
He went and started eating it quietly.
*Why was it awkward?* Zoya kept thinking.
