Unsolved Puzzle

LORELEI

AWKWARD — IT is the right word to define the atmosphere in our club room. I don't know where's Jamie or Alistair because right now, they are nowhere to found, leaving Loki and I alone. He busied his self by solving a puzzle that has too many pieces. Can he solve that quantity? By the way, that puzzle is different from the one he was solving a year ago when we first met in Tita Martha's apartment.

I can't believe that a year has passed between him and me. A year that was full of killings or murders, kidnappings and abductions, suicides, poisonings, codes or cryptography. And after months, we're done with Moriarty. No more Stein Alberts. No more blackmailings from our School paper Editor-In-Chief. No more secrets from Luthor Mendez and our club member Jamie Santiago. There was no crime anymore and we were given the justice.

All of us got promoted to the next year level. Alistair and I are having our second year here in Clark High. We didn't plan to transfer into another school and I promise to Walter Rios, my foster father, that I'll be at peace in this school now that we have no one to worry about.

BAM!

Loki's head created sound when it hit the table as he bowed down. Mukha namang hindi siya nasaktan. I looked at the puzzle he was solving. He left it incomplete. Almost all pieces were arranged correctly but there's a one space left. Wala naman ng ibang puzzle piece sa mesa kaya nasaan ang piyesa na dapat ay nandyan?

Freya jumped into my lap when the door swung opened showing Alistair and Jamie. They both sat beside each other.

"Wala bang kasong iso-solve ngayon?"

'Do you see anything?' I almost blurt it out. Months passed but my relationship with Jamie isn't good. We're on the rocks. Nahihirapan akong ibalik ang tiwala ko sa kanya na minsan niya nang sinira.

Sa halip na isaboses ang mga nasa isip ko ay pinili ko na lang na manahimik at ituon ang atensyon sa isang notebook na nakapatong sa mesa.

His name in cursive was written by our ex-repertory club member when she was too bored. A lot of things changed. Since the school year came, Jamie also changed. She isn't clingy to Loki anymore. Siguro ay dahil sa nagawa niya na ang mission niya bilang isa sa general ni Stein Alberts at napagtagumpayan niyang maging isang distraction kay Loki as Rhiannon.

I tried to drift my attention and opened the notebook only to find out odd names.

I am not familiar with this names so who are they? They aren't our clients and as far as I can remember, we didn't have clients with such names. Babae ba sila ni Loki? Naging babaero na ba siya?

"Hindi mo pa rin ba nahahanap ang nawawalang piraso nito?"

Nag-angat ng ulo si Loki kaya naman agad kong sinarado ang notebook.

Nakakapagtakang tumingin muna siya sa akin bago tuluyang nilingon ang kababata ko na nagtanong. "Have you really search onto your stuffs?"

"Ilang beses na nating tiningnan ang mga gamit ko pero wala pa rin," sagot nito.

"Let's try searching for it again later. Baka na-misplace mo lang talaga," Alistair advised. "Ang laki na ng eyebags mo kakahanap do'n pero wala pa rin. Just buy another puzzle."
