Niklaus was the first to break the awkward silence we were having with a drawl, "What would you like to know, my love."

"Explain to me what exactly this curse is." I demand, ignoring the way he's been addressing me since we've met.

He smiles knowingly, dimples forming and raises his brows at me.

"This curse..." He starts, his smile slipping off his face, "...works against what nature itself has decreed." He sits next to me, on the small space Alaric's body doesn't take up, and places a hand over the leather couch. "I am not my father's son." I nod for him to continue, "And I have always been his greatest shame. Imagine when I triggered the werewolf gene, the scene he made." I sympathize, lowering my gaze. This cannot be the curse. "He got the witches to tie down half of me. So that I would remain so utterly alone, I didn't even have all of myself."

My brain took a few seconds to process this. Niklaus felt abandoned by the world that created him. Whoever those witches are, they are no doubt being punished for their actions by nature. He was a man who wanted his birthright.

"There has to be another loophole." I whisper to myself.

"What do you mean?" He questions, his grip tightening on the material of the couch.

"Look, witches are meant to be servants of nature. The ones that did this to you were subservient to your deadbeat father, and are no doubt being punished for it. I am a defender of nature, and so I want to make this right," I place one of my hands on his knee, squeezing lightly, "It is your birthright to feel whole."

His gaze meets mine, and a new fire pools into his eyes.

"But," I tut, "you cannot kill Elena."

He frowns, "Why?"

I cross my arms, "She is but a human child, doppelgänger or not."

He only chuckles sarcastically, "And who are you to stop me?"

I raise an arm threateningly, my hair levitating slightly, "I will not allow you to hurt her or any others simply for the thrill it gives you to take people away from those they care for."

He leans in slightly, taking a blonde lock in his hand, and curling it lightly in his finger. "What exactly are you?" He asks again.

"Like I said before, Niklaus, I am a defender of nature." I chuckle darkly, "I'm surprised Rebekah did not blabber about me to you, she was always quite the chatterbox."

I use my left hand still in the air, and move it in a redacted wave. From the surprised look in his face, I can tell my magic worked. "What, did you not like my little trick, or are you just not used to people caressing your back."

I smile, "I can also do this." My hand encloses as if holding onto a neck, and I push it forward. Immediately, Niklaus goes flying into the wall next to the door, and he yelps out in pain. I stand, walking closer to him as I keep him there.
