I arrived at school the next morning still shocked and confused from what had happened the previous night. I had been participating in a coven wide event when an intense pain came over me, and I had just lost consciousness after that. I don't remember very much other than an intense crimson hue, and even then the thoughts were distant from the front of my mind. I entered the building looking for Alex, and I didn't find him until first block. He had dark circles under his eyes, but he still gave me a fluorescent smile. "What happened to you?" I asked quietly, and he stared down at his hands.

"I don't know... I think I was glowing? Honestly I can't remember in the slightest."

"Weird, something similar happened to me." We spent the rest of the class in quiet conversation, but I felt like I was missing something. Everytime he spoke, all I could think about was the absence of a permanent mark on his body other than the bite on his shoulder which I will never be proud of. At the end of first block, the thoughts got too strong, and I lead him off somewhere secluded.

"Where are we? We really should get to class now Ash. Ash?" he breathed, and I had already pinned him against the wall before he was even able to say my name. The feeling of his breath on my face spurred me on, and it wasn't long until our lips connected. I pulled away from his neck about 10 minutes later, and the bite I had just left was turning into a tattoo-like bit of art. A serpent, funny.

I stood in front of the mirror in the restroom observing my own mark. It was a little wolf howling at a full moon because Alex was my little wolf. I'm never going to cover this! The humans would assume it was a normal tattoo, yet my coven would probably notice that it wasn't and question it. Suddenly, the events of last night came back to me. What was that glow and why was it red? I exited the restroom and walked back to the place I had left Alex, the library. He was reading a book about werewolves that was written by humans, suddenly thinking that something was absolutely hilarious. His laugh was musical, ringing through the quiet library, and I went up behind him and pressed my face into his hair and looked into the book he was reading.

"What's so funny?" I asked, sniffing his hair. It smelt sweet, like the rest of his body.

"First off, did you just sniff me!?"

"Sure did," I responded.

"Also, why do the humans have such confused views on werewolves!? I'm not going to go and munch on a human for no reason."

I laughed so hard that I snorted, watching his serious face slowly give way until he was on the ground laughing with me. When I looked into his face now red from the laughter, I noticed something different about his eyes. Even though they were green, there seemed to be a light blue hue coming from around them that drew me in. They were definitely meant to tell me not to cross him, and I was just as content to listen to the thought in my head.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his face reading concern. "Does it mean anything really bad if a vampire's eyes glow red?"

"I have no clue, but yours have a blue tint," I responded, actually not having any idea.

"Oh, still?" his expression changed to panic way too quickly for my liking. What could it possibly mean?

"What do you mean, still!?"

"Uh... Last night after I took a break, I was laying down behind the dumpster. Then something happened and I started glowing."

I gave him a look of confusion. "I was out hunting with my coven last night when I started feeling really lethargic. I ended up crouching by a tree because it hurt, but when I could open my eyes there were blood red sparks floating around me," I explained. His eyes went wide, and I got the sense that he had just found something great.

"Oh fuck!" he practically shouted, gripping my wrist. I looked up at him, hating that I was shorter than him, but not caring since it was just usual at this point.

"What?" I was so confused watching the realisation come over his facial features at this point that trying to figure out what he was doing was just futile.

"In my culture, two mates would experience that if they had a true bond, which is rare. It would mean that we were meant for each other in every single way. Except, it usually only happens when the two are together, and it only occurs when both in the bond are of high importance. Even higher importance than future Alpha, as in the king and queen of the werewolves!"

"So then, why did it happen to us? I'm just a vampire, nothing important there, and you're only the heir of the strongest pack on the east-," I broke off when it came into my mind. That prophecy about him.

"Come with me," I demanded, grabbing on to his arm and dragging him out of the building.

"Where are we going!?"

"We need to have a conversation with my coven leader."

"About what?"

"Do you not know about the prophecy?"

"No? There's a prophecy?"

"Yeah. I only learned about it a few days ago, so I know nothing about it. Kailey does though."

"Okay," was his simple response as he followed me into the forest. He trusts me enough to wander with me into a forest he doesn't know well, and that felt satisfying. I walked into camp clutching his hand because I didn't want him to get lost. Anyone who even looked at us incorrectly was met with a loud hiss. I knew my dominance was coming off in waves, but he was my mate; I had to protect him. I entered Kailey's office quietly, still dragging Alexander behind me. She was sat behind her desk, reading a very old book, and she gave me a slightly irritated look.

"Ah, Ashton. I was reading up on that thing I told you about," she stated with a hint of 'will you please stop barging into my office every two seconds I'm trying to work' written in her eyes.

"Kailey, this is Alexander, my mate. Alex this is Kailey," I introduced them to each other ignoring the hostility. I would really like them to get alone.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Alex," Kailey responded, shaking his hand briefly before turning towards me. "Your mate is a werewolf?"

"Yes ma'am."

"That's cool," was all she said before she moved on.

"So what's this about a prophecy?" he asked, looking so confused that his face was adorable. I know he's my soulmate but I still need my mind to tone it down a little bit.

"You don't know?"

"No. Should I?"

"Well I just thought that all you werewolves would know about your own prophecy."

"Eh, no one ever talked to me about it."

She began to explain the message to him, and I watched his eyes slowly widen.

"Wait, seriously?" he asked, his voice weak in shock.

"Yeah, that's what they say."

Alex looked so defeated. I couldn't bare to see him that way any longer, so I pulled him into a hug with my face buried in his neck. He physically relaxed, but I could still tell that his mind was like a hurricane with no end in sight. I need to stop this before he fall soff of the brink of insanity again.

"Hey, stop thinking so much," I whispered while pulling him out of the room and into my living quarters.

"There's a prophecy about me that I didn't know anything about until today!" he exclaimed, his voice emitting nervous energy.

I looked deep into his ecstatic eyes, seeing even more blue swirling inside of them. They were nothing short of beautiful, almost hypnotic.

"Shh... It'll be okay. We're in this together," I hushed quietly, hoping it would help him calm a bit. He began to close his eyes more before they eventually shut completely, followed by his breath slowing down significantly. His lips were still slightly parted, I set him on the ground gently before laying on my side to face him. I felt his arms wrap around me, trapping me in his embrace. It was nice, laying next to him while he slept so peacefully, so I think I should do it more. I managed to slip into a drifting state, not knowing the stress that the next day would hold for me... The storm is coming soon.
