Arianna's POV- Chapter 9; Heart's Made of Glass Part 1

Running through the streets of LA in the rain at 10 o'clock at night isn't what I imagined I would be doing. My dress is soaked through and my hair is in curly tangles down my back from the rain. My makeup is smeared and streaked on my cheeks. I'm running down the road when I see a familiar car. Dad's car. I turn around and start running the other way.

"Arianna?" He shouts from behind me and I turn around to find him running out of an office building heading towards me.

"Hey hey... come here what's wrong, princess?" He asks me was I wrap my arms around him and cry into his chest.

"Daddy...." I sob into his chest and he holds me while I explain everything from this morning at the pier to Jake's ex showing up at the restaurant and Jake telling me to leave.

When I finish explaining I'm in his car with him driving to a drive-through for dinner since I haven't eaten since this morning as I stare out the window with his hand holding mine.

Shane's POV- Chapter 9; Heart's Made of Glass Part 2

I watch as my little girl cries over that guy she said she liked. I held her in the rain as she cried in the streets. I held her hand as she cried in the passenger seat staring out the window. I really want to kill that son of a bitch for hurting her.

"Daddy where are we going?" She asks me as she focuses her gaze back on me.

"Well since we got the food we're going to my apartment to eat." I say and she smiles softly.

When we get to the apartment we eat with small talk and I hear her soft laughter as we share jokes about Colton and my similarities and Sam. Arianna really is a beautiful girl. She's my little girl.

"You need to call your mother and tell her I'll drop you off in the morning." I say and she glances at her phone and then gives a curt nod.

"Why didn't you go home?" I ask her and she sighs and pulls her hair from down her back to over her shoulder.

"I didn't want to talk to Colton or mom about it. Jake is one of Colton's best friends." She says biting her lip nervously.

"You gotta tell your mom at least." I say to her and she nods again.

"It's amazing how we're so alike and I never even knew who you were." I say voicing my thoughts before I could stop myself.

"Mom never talked about you. She just told us not to hate you, that it wasn't your fault. That you love us just as much as she does. That we should never be angry with you for not being there." She says with a sad smile.

"She said that?" I ask genuinely surprised and she nods.

"You should call your mother I'll grab you something to change into." I say before walking away.

I glance back at her as she grabs her phone and begins talking to Sam. To her mother. Her hair curls down her back like her mother's did. She is biting her lip as she explains the situation. I walk away smiling to myself thinking.

It's amazing how much you can love someone you just met.
