Doonah went to talk to the manager of the complex who lived on site - a single mother of one child and expecting a second. Besides her income as manager, she supplemented her income as a lifestyle blogger and influencer for millenial mommies. Doona knew she'd need her assistance to contact the authorities.
"Kaylay, you've got to help me," Doonah pleaded to her after Kaylay let her in and they sat down together on Kaylay's couch.
"So, how long has it been since you've seen him?"
"I saw him yesterday, before I left to do my teaching."
"Is there anything unusual or suspicious you've seen around the apartment? The complex?"
"No, Kaylay. Just that we were supposed to meet this afternoon to practice and the door was locked. And when I tried a while later, he still didn't answer."
"Look, Doonah, I want to help. But unexpected things happen in people's lives. I need more to go on before I can just enter his apartment or have cops do it. Sorry."
Doonah left crushed. She'd known Root for years and that this wasn't like him. Doonah would need to find proof to convince others to follow her faith and instinct.
