Doonah returned to her apartment. She desperately wanted to try Root's door to see if he'd answer, but then thought it better not to disturb the crime scene.
At that moment, Doonah realized her conviction deep down that something bad happened to Root. Even worse, she realized she lacked evidence for anyone else to join her in that conviction. Right now, it all hinged on Carre and what those computers turned up.
About an hour later, Doonah's cell phone rang. Charre called her back as promised. Not surprisingly, the phone ID lacked information.
"I got a lot of good leads on this Arnie Argood guy. That's not his real name, either. Ready to be partners in crime and solve this little mystery?"
Doonah realized that, like it or not, she'd have to do the sleuthing herself to find out what happened to her friend, Root.
