"Feeling good today?" Ms. Clark's gentle tone asked me, a welcoming smile present on her face as she crossed her legs and opened up her textbook.
No. "As always," was my short, forced reply. My voice was way to enthusiastic for my liking as the ache from my cheeks of smiling so much got annoying.
"Slept well?"
As good as you can, having the worst of nightmares haunting you. "Like a baby," I replied with a forced laugh, grimacing at how stupid I probably looked like. Ms. Clark shorty looked up, a amused smile on her lips as she chuckled along with me before going back to scribbling on the open page placed on her lap.
"Did anything out of the ordinary happen?" I crossed my right leg over the left, folding my hands in my lap to stop them with shaking to gain some time to calm down. I took a deep breath in as I squeezed my hands together tightly.
Yes. A whole lot of it. "No," I managed to say after a moment of hesitation.
Ms. Clark's heavy sigh brought me back to reality from my deep thoughts. Looking at her, I saw a pleased smile on her face as she closed her textbook and placed it together with her pen onto the table between the both of us.
"I don't even know why we're still going through these questions," she said in a chuckle. "It is more than obvious that there's no need for them, seeing as you successfully moved on."
I smiled back at her, nodding in agreement as I pushed a lock of my wavy brown hair behind my ear. A habit I couldn't seem to control whenever I was nervous and right now, I was at the very edge of breaking into tears right in front of my therapist. This smiling act, pretending to be happy thing was something I would not be able to hold up with any longer. Not when in reality, I was scared beyond belief.
The intimidating brown haired and blue eyed man from yesterday night? Yeah, he had been starring at me the whole night. Whenever I shortly came out of the kitchen to give Aden a hand since at late afternoons, the whole diner was as fully packed as it could get, I could feel eyes on my every move. Following that stare, my eyes would always land on the man who, for some reason knew my name. That thought alone was something for me to have a a slight panic attack and him both smiling and winking at me whenever I caught his gaze, was not helping the situation neither. The look on his face, I could never forget. How those blue eyes would drink my frightened frame in, his mouth pulled up in a smile with his crossed hands resting under his chin.
We talked for another good twenty minutes before Ms. Clark called it a day and I walked out of the room. Waiting fr the elevator to come, I felt something stir within me as the thoughts of the man stumbling across me right in that elevator came rushing back. Feeling quite uneasy, I pushed the straps of my bag higher and held onto it with one hand tightly as I waited anxiously for the doors to finally open.
Bing!
I jumped slightly up in shock, eyes squeezed shut as I took a sharp intake of breath in. Calming down, I opened my eyes slowly before walking into the elevator and to my relief, saw no one in there. Breathing heavily out, I quickly walked in and pushed the button, turning around as the doors began to close.
Just as it was closed completely, a hand appeared between the two nearing walls, stopping them from closing completely. The doors opened again in a slow motion as a man stepped into view.
