Onika's POV

I never realized how beautiful the grass was behind everything, it was tall and a deep green. The Sun just made it even better at the moment, I've been wondering through the fields for a while since there hasn't been much for me to do. I've been to myself these last few days, the girls and I haven't spoke and Madam; Madam is something different.

She and I haven't spoken, I haven't even been able to lay my eyes on her these last few daylights. She's been gone completely only around for small moments of breakfast and dinner not even sitting at the table with us all like she used to, Silence.. I thought to myself as I sat down in the grass. A small breeze came through as I lifted my head up to the sun before closing my eyes, my hands held the ends of my skirt as o took in the fresh clean air.

"Onika" were the only words I could hear as I heard the long grass move against causing me to sigh out sadly before opening my eyes turning my head, "Onika come on you have to come see this!" I heard Niya as she came to a stop near me with a slight smile on her face. "I don't know, I think I wanna stay here" I quietly spoke looking her in the eye seeing her smile softly dim "No, come on Nic. It'll be fun trust me just come" she smiled before grabbing my arm gently pulling me up making me stand on my own two feet to follow her, "But Niya I-"Trust me Nika, you'll like it" she spoke as she dragged me through the once silent and peaceful area only to go back to the dread filled house I now grow to despise.

Every time I'm in there I think of his words about her and how I just can believe them, how she could lift me with what I would think was love and interest to only be questioned. She ran us through the inside of the house going from the back door to run past multiple adults who barely had time to turn their heads in our direction as we made it to the front door, she opened the door seeing some were already outside looking at what I now saw to be a carriage pulling into the dirt trail by the the horses. We made it out on the dark brown wooden porch barely even stepping out of the door, "They're here" Nilaya spoke as the carriage stopped and the drivers got off the top to open the carriage doors for whoever was in the back but as soon as they opened I knew I shouldn't be here.

I saw a heel come in contact with the ground as the caramel leg that was shown became covered with the ends of a long costly cloth of a dress giving me and idea of who it was leading me to drop my head in less than moments. I heard her name from everyone one around us as I tried to catch my staggered breaths before lifting my head tot he sound of another door opening. I watched as I saw a man come out of the father side only to be her husband but someone came out behind him, a white man I thought at first until he lifted his head seeing he held dreads and dirtier than the average with more of a African structured face. His eyes were a deep chocolate and caramel brown with his dreads a deep blonde, he was followed out by the rest of the men who are with Madam's husband. "That's him.." I heard Nilaya say causing my eyes to go to her "That's who?" I asked quietly but never got my answer from how LoRaiya ran out and hugged the mystery man.

She held him tight from what I saw until the woman who runs my mind wild came out of the carriage completely turning her head in their direction and for once it looked like a true, genuine smile. I saw Raiya pull back from the man after a moment only to look at madam with tears run down her deep red cheeks, she began to speak but I couldn't hear it from how loud everyone was around us but I think she was saying thank you from how it looked. "It's her brother" Nilaya finally spoke in almost shock before a smile grew on her face.

Everyone on the deck was clapping and cheering with some praying while the others around us were trying to see what was going on. Though it was a happy and grateful moment I still can't get my mind around it wig her brother from how Raiya would never mention it Or was I just not paying attention? My hands somehow found each other in its own admission to clip for the two siblings, the thought of my own brothers began to flood my mind in wonder of them being alive and well trying to doubt the inevitable that they were now either slave or dead being killed by another man or by disease of ignorance.
