Three weeks later.

(Int. Hospital room. Monitors are hooked up to a sleeping Rashad. There is a nurse in the room checking his vitals)

RASHAD: No... Help me...

RACHEL: Mr. Smith?

RASHAD: Don't leave me like this...

RACHEL: Wake up, Mr. Smith.

(Gently shakes him)

You're having a bad dream.

(His eyes opens. He looks around, trying to remember where he is)

RACHEL: You're okay. You're safe now.

(She rubs small circles on his back)

RASHAD: I'm okay. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.

RACHEL: You do not have to apologize for anything.

(Still rubbing his back)

Bad dream?

(He nods)

Don't worry about it. It's all in the past now.

(Stops rubbing his back)

Now that you're up let's check your blood pressure.

RASHAD: I'm pretty sure it's high.

RACHEL: Let's see how high.

(She presses a button that brings the bed up to a sitting position and takes his pressure)

Wow, nice arms. How much do you bench press?

RASHAD: 350.

RACHEL: Nice.

RASHAD: Thanks.

(He catches her admiring his arms. She looks away embarrassed)

Don't be ashamed.

RACHEL: I shouldn't be. I'm your nurse and—

RASHAD: And you're helping me by letting me know that a beautiful woman like you still finds me attractive. Even with my face looking like this.

(They smile at each other. Don knocks at the door)

DON: Aye! Look who's up!

RACHEL: Well your vitals are normal. I'll come back around 5 to check on you again. If you need anything ring the bell.

RASHAD: I definitely will.

(Rachel smiles at him)

RACHEL: I'll leave you two alone.

(Walks past Don)

DON: You don't see me standing here?

RACHEL: Boy, bye!

(Leaves the room. Rashad chuckles)

RASHAD: I like her.

DON: You know she wants me, right?

RASHAD: Well, of course.

(Laugh)

DON: How are you feeling today?

RASHAD: A little less shitty actually.

DON: Yeah?

RASHAD: Yeah. I'm still having the nightmares but the pain is bearable. So, what do you have for me today?

DON: Well...

(Sits down in a chair beside Rashad's bed)

I have good news and bad news.

RASHAD: What's the good news?

DON: We won the case against Spencer. Silvia is going to get the alimony and child support. We even got her the house.

RASHAD: Silvia?

DON: Yes. Mrs. Spencer. Well she actually went back to her maiden name now, so it's Ms. Jackson if yuh nasty.

RASHAD: Wow. You two must have been spending a lot of time in that office.

DON: No!

(Avoiding eye contact)

I'm not spending anytime besides work time.

RASHAD: O-Kay. So what's the bad news?

(Don takes a deep breath)

DON: There's been no sign of Toni.

RASHAD: If the P.I can't find her by now that means she fled the country. Damn!

(Slams his fist down. Groans in pain)

DON: Take it easy.

RASHAD: She took my money, D.

DON: What? How much?

RASHAD: Half a mil.

(Don jaws drops in surprise)

If the bank didn't have a limit on what could be taken in a day, she would've left me broke.

DON: I'm sorry, you're a millionaire and you never told me?

RASHAD: You knee I had money.

DON: I didn't know you had that much money.

RASHAD: This is so not important right now.

DON: You're right... but can I borrow two million dollars?

RASHAD: Borrow means that you intend on paying it back.

DON: Don't be selfish, Rashad.

(Rashad laughs. The machine starts to beef and Rachel comes rushing in)

RACHEL: Is everything okay?

RASHAD: Yes, I'm fine.

DON: But I'm finer.

(She rolls her eyes)

RACHEL: So you're a comedian?

DON: Damn, it's like that?

(He notices the way she and Rashad are looking at each other)

Ohh. Okay. I see what's going on here. I'll leave you two alone.

(He exist the room and watches Rashad and Rachel flirting with each other. He smiles and then exits.

End scene.

Six months later.

Ext. Rashad's house. A blond woman wearing red bottoms is walking up Rashad's driveway. There is a music and laughter coming from the backyard. The woman approaches the doorbell and rings it. It chimes. She rings it again. A moment later Rashad opens the door but he's looking back, saying something to someone behind him. When he turns to greet his visitor, his face expression turns grim. The cup that he was holding in his hand falls to the floor. We finally see the woman's face)

TONI: Hello, lover.
