'I don't know how he is going to react when he sees us there' I looked over at Anum who was looking quite calm for someone going out for spying purposes, I, on the other hand, felt like a cheat. I was the one feeling bad for planning this whole thing behind Zain's back. Was I putting our relationship on stake by going after him like that? But I needed answers.

'Look we both know he is probably going to be upset when he sees us there but that's the price he'll have to pay after ignoring you for days and quite frankly I had no idea he was doing this purposely or else I would have stepped in sooner...just promise me that'll you'll be more open to me, I am his sister but I am your friend too...I will always be there' She said softly and I felt like I wasn't going insane. The car stopped in front of the hotel that Sumaiya told me about.

'Ready?' Anum gave me a reassuring nod and we head inside the hotel to look for Zain. We asked the staff about the party and they led us to an open area by the pool where the party was being held. I looked at how everyone was dressed at the party and then at my dress, this time it really hit me how different Zain and I were. His family and my family had a lot in common but his social gathering was very different from mine.

'You're okay?' Anum noticed my uneasiness and stopped to look at me.

'I just never really paid attention to how different our lives were until now' I told her my feelings, looking far into the maddening crowd. Was I ever going to fully adjust into his world?

'It's just clothes and makeup, don't pay too much attention to all this' Before I could say anything further, Anum grabbed my hand and walked towards the entrance, leading me inside the party scene.

My eyes instantly got drawn to Zain who was talking to Sumaiya and some other people I didn't know where the drinks were being served. I thought about waiting for him to notice me but Anum had other plans, she quickly called out Zain's name before I could stop her and Zain instantly looked over in our direction and frowned.

'Great' I saw him mouthed and noticed Sumaiya smiling at us. Not a smile I was expecting, it just didn't seem kind, it felt cold and pretentious.

'What are you doing here?' Zain walked over and looked directly into my eyes.

'Sumaiya invited me' I answered him. He looked at me with confusion, waiting for me to explain myself.

'I saw her at the mall when you were away and she invited me to attend her party' I added.

'Why didn't you tell me?' He had the nerves to ask me this hideous question. How could I have told him this when he was busy being a selfish moron.

'Probably forgot, now if you excuse me' I walked passed him and took Anum with me to go to Sumaiya.

'Happy birthday' I gave her a small gift that I managed to purchase right before coming to the party. It wasn't much but at least it was something.

'You shouldn't have' She said while taking the gifts from Anum and me.

'I hope your ex-boss isn't upset to see you here' Sumaiya said.

'They are engaged' Anum corrected her. I couldn't help but grin. Anum was too savage sometimes but I never expected anything less from my friend.

'Maya' I heard Zain's voice from behind and saw him looking questionably at me, his expression dark and unreadable.

'Come here' He walked closer, offering me his hand. I took his hand as he led me out of the party scene and inside the hotel, closer to a small corridor where there was no one but us.

Zain turned and let go of my hand, gazing down at me.

'I thought you weren't ready to talk' I gaped at him.
