Chapter 25 - Old friend

It has been weeks since my proposal was set in motion. The blood-sucking events of the Eun Enterprise have finally ceased, and they had unsurprisingly agreed to pay us back a generous amount to repair the damage they made. Well, it's not like they have a better choice, it was either this or having your name written in big letters on the first page of the newspaper, now that's damaging for a company. With both of these factors played nicely in place, the stocks have gone up significantly. This will surely satisfy both the broad and our fellow partners who were rather vocally with their concern, calling and trying to meet me in person to hopefully alter the plan that was already progressing. Despite this, the snake's schemes have not shown itself throughout the entire motion, which was a relieve for all of us.

Things have been going smooth. It feels like I can finally relax and not formulating solutions just in case another obstacle pops up out of nowhere.

A sigh escaped from me as I allow my body to sink into the comfort of my chair and just simply enjoy the silence of my room. It seems to be so long since I got the chance to just throw everything out of my mind and just relax. 

This moment is however short-lived as the sound of my door opening rudely interrupted the peacefulness of my room. My left eye opened only to see Lisa trying and failing to close the door softly after noticing my attempt to rest.

The light thumping of her walking was next. I can only imagine how slowly she moved to minimise the noise she normally makes. Seconds later, Lisa was sitting in front of me, contemplating whether she should speak or not, and while she chose the latter, Lisa could only stay quiet for so long.

"Jennie?"

"Yes, Lisa."

"Tzuyu wanted me to inform you that the interim CFO will be arriving in around 15 minutes." Her voice lingers with a bit of concern.

I hummed at that and decided to give up resting in the office. My body straightens and my hand reached for my discarded notes in front of the computer. "Well, that's good. With Henry's vacant in the company we needed someone qualified to fill in as soon as possible."

The mention of the man's name got her attention, with her body leaned in she asked, "Speaking of which, how's Ji Ho? Is he doing alright?" It's impressive how much Lisa can care for a person she doesn't even know except for their name. Nowadays, people care more about themselves than some strangers, some are even worst to intentionally harm others just for their own selfish desires. The kindness the girl possesses is really something rare. So... why does her concern for the man upset me a bit? As quickly as it came, the thought was dismissed.

"He's doing quite well actually. Last time I contacted Henry, he said that most of the drug content has been removed from his body. After all, Henry did took 2 months off not long ago, just to take care of his son. Or did you forget that?" I teased. Making fun of her is honestly something I been doing a lot, and can you really blame me when her reactions are always so amusing.

"Hey! Of course, I remember!" And just like that, a smile formed on my face.

Once the moment passed, Lisa unexpectedly turned serious and said, "It's just that, is it really alright for Henry to leave the company for such a long time? He is the CFO, after all." Right, I haven't addressed her this issue that must've concerning the others as well.

Someone with a post as high as Henry suddenly has decided to take such a significant absence from the company, is unquestionably worrying. But that's where the interim officer comes in. "I understand where you're coming from, Lisa. That's why I've decided to hire an interim CFO."

Lisa with her head slightly tilted, stared at me with a look that can only be translated as "Huh?"

Despite my smile, I rolled my eyes out of habit before continuing my explanation. "Although, Henry is going to be absent until July, he is still undoubtedly working." Making a few clicks on my laptop, I showed Lisa some of the data Henry sent in. "The purpose of the interim officer is to simply help the workload within the finance group. And as for something more major, Henry will be continuing to handle them back at home."
