(Y/n) woke up in the mother ship, startling upright. "What-" She leaped off the bed, hissing defensively when the mother ship's icon floated into the room.
"Lieutenant (Y/n). It is good to see you awake," the gentle voice of Mother said. "The King-in-Waiting brought you homework."
"Oh, uh, okay?" she said. "How long have I been out?"
"Only two days. But the royals say you have already been missed."
"There goes perfect attendance." She sighed. "Tell him thanks. I've got to get back to my own ship."
"Why don't you tell him yourself? They just returned from school." She clenched her teeth but didn't refuse, following the icon out of the room and into the kitchen where Aja was on the couch - in human form- probably texting Steve and Krel was shifting food around on a plate. "My royals."
They both looked up and (Y/n) wanted to walk away right then. The looks on their faces made her sick. She wanted to pull out her serrator and destroy them both, but Varvatos was watching her with a scrutinizing eye. She pushed the desire down and opened her hands in a pathetic jazz hands.
"Lieutenant! Good to see you!" Aja exclaimed, racing over and giving her a hug. Krel slid off his stool and walked over, waiting until Aja finally released (Y/n). "Little brother was very anxious for your awakening!" Krel slapped her and walked her backwards to the couch, roughly sitting her down.
"You did us a service when Varvatos was unavailable," the King-in-Waiting said, crossing his arms. "I was simply waiting so I could express my gratitude."
"Ah," (Y/n) said. "Well, um, I think I need to go check up on my ship. You know. Two days and I need to catch up on homework."
"That shouldn't be that hard," Aja said. "Stick around! Krel finished that homework in thirty Earth seconds flat!" He flashed her a look and she snickered. "He wants you to stay as well."
"Are you trying to say something?" (Y/n) asked.
"Who, me?" Aja asked, grinning and pointing to herself. "No, not at all." The lieutenant lifted an eyebrow and looked at Krel, but he had a hand up, covering his face as if he was embarrassed.
"You good over there?" she asked. He slapped his hand onto his leg. She blinked. "You know what? You guys seem a little stressed, so I really should go."
"Oh, no!" Aja said, pouting. "Mother? Is Lieutenant (Y/n) really up and ready to go?"
"Indeed." The Queen-in-Waiting glared at the icon and (Y/n) snorted.
"I'll see you at school," she said then left to go back and report in.
"You're two days behind schedule," Morando said as soon as she opened the device. She sighed.
"Zeron Brother stabbed me," she said. "The royals were generous enough to keep me until I got better." Her lip twitched. "I still can't stand them. But! But. I think me and the King-in-Waiting have a...human boyfriend girlfriend relationship, which is like a mutual interest thing." She shrugged. "It's a start, I guess."
"Good," Morando said. "I know that I can trust you to do your job with top efficiency, lieutenant." She dipped her head gratefully. "Now. Two days must have gotten you behind on homework."
"Ah. Thanks." Morando smirked before the hologram shut off. (Y/n) set the device down and collected her papers. "Great Seklos and Gaylen! What did Ms. Janeth do?"
She was sitting at the table for a very long five minutes before someone knocked at the door. Mary.
"Hmm?" (Y/n) said.
"Have you and Tarron kissed yet?" Mary burst out. (Y/n) blinked.
"Uh, no? Gees, Mary. It's been two days! You have to let these things develop!"
Mary sighed in relief and the lieutenant allowed her inside. "I would have been so sad if I'd missed that," she said, plopping into the tiny arm chair.
"To be honest, you're probably not going to see it," (Y/n) said.
"Anyway. Where were you for two days?"
"Out of town. Super secret stuff." She winked.
"Ooh! Like what?"
"Battling the Billycraggle."
"Oh." (Y/n) laughed.
"Don't sound so disappointed," she said.
"Wish you'd tell me stuff, girl. That's what friends are for."
"You know what...." (Y/n) grabbed the device off the desk and placed it on the coffee table in front of Mary. "Working on this. Who cares about perfect attendance?"
"Krel, apparently," Mary said, grabbing the device. "What's it do?"
"Calls my boss."
"Who's your boss?"
"Cosplayer. Give it a whirl if you can figure it out." (Y/n) sat back and placed her feet on the table as Mary fiddled with the device. She snorted as she vigorously shook it. "No? It's complicated."
"You don't want anyone to see this cosplay, do you?" Mary said, handing the device back to (Y/n).
"Not really. That ruins the surprise! I'm sure you'll see him around here sooner rather than later." Mary grinned.
"Better be good," she said. "Nothing lame goes on my page!" She lifted her phone and (Y/n) posed. "That's gorgeous! #iwokeuplikethis."
"That's 'cause I did." She tossed her hair over her shoulder. "Well, I've got...Driver's Ed? I think. Shannon's meeting me there."
"Ugh. My dad's teaching me," Mary said. "Says Driver's Ed is too expensive."
"Huh? You're family's like, seriously rich."
"Sh! They don't need to know that!" They stood and walked to the door. "Well, see ya. Have fun at 'Driver's Ed'."
"I'll try." They parted ways and (Y/n) arrived a minute early to her driving class.
"No Tokyo drifting," Coach Lawrence said as he marched down the line, banning everyone from doing whatever they'd done the other Driver's Ed class. Eli sighed and dropped his head.
"No...you're okay," Coach Lawrence said to Shannon, who grinned. "No ruining my car!" (Y/n) sighed. The royals were here.
"Sorry, Coach, but it had to be done!" Krel said. (Y/n) refused to look at them. She hadn't been there the last Driver's Ed class, but she knew what they'd done from a bit of poking around.
"You'll go last. (Y/n), why don't you demonstrate? She picked it up faster than all of you! Why can't you all be more like her?!" She rolled her eyes and walked up, taking the keys from Coach Lawrence and slipping into the car.
After a quick demonstration, Coach made them line up. Of course, he made the Tarrons get into the back of the line, Eli in the front.
"Yes!" the short boy said, pumping his fists.
"Alright, Pepperjack. Drive like a real good boy!" Coach said. Eli nodded, sunglasses already in place. They took off and the Coach's screams could be heard until they rounded the corner of the canal.
"(Y/n)! Since when did you take Driver's Ed?" Aja said, pulling the lieutenant over to them.
"A while. Cars are fascinating," she replied. "Kinda wanna drive professionally if I ever get the chance? I don't know. Weird interest of mine."
"Yeah, Aja had a feeling something 'good' would come out of coming back here, but clearly the Coach doesn't trust us," Krel said, shrugging.
"Oh, Krel, quick, on a side note, Mary is seriously obsessed," (Y/n) said, stepping over to him. "Sure you don't want to break this off?"
"He's been dealing with it since the bonfire," Aja said, waving it off. "You should see it!"
"Maybe I will," (Y/n) said, shrugging. "But right now, you've got a class to take."
