A month since the encounter with the Trollhunters. Jim, Claire, and Toby were as friendly to her as ever at school, and to be entirely honest, she almost felt bad about it.
Almost.
(Y/n) had watched the daxial array come together and much to her displeasure, her relationship with Krel.
She refused to believe she liked him. Royals were annoying and entitled and after her...incident...she hated them and everything to do with them.
But there were some moments where Krel was just too precious. Now was one of those moments.
"Great Seklos and Gaylen," he groaned, face planting onto his bed and slamming his fists on it. Currently, they were in human form and he was having a bad day.
"Cheer up," the lieutenant said, leaning on the door frame. "The daxial array is coming together! This ship will be up in no time and you can go home and restore the rightful rulers to the throne." The words were acid on her tongue, but for some reason, the feeling only lasted a few seconds.
"You don't understand!" he shouted, flopping onto his back and glaring up at her. She made a mock pouty face. "There's just too many components missing! This ship will never get in the air, and we'll be stuck on this dirt ball forever!"
"Okay, I've had these days before," (Y/n) said, walking over and sitting beside him. She shifted to her Akiridion form as Krel did, the King-in-Waiting sitting up and rubbing his four hands over his face. "When all hope seems lost. That's how I used to feel when I landed here. I was lost. A stranger. But these people took me in. They gave me a reason to stand up and keep going." She scrunched up her face. "Okay, sorry, pathetic attempt at being inspirational."
"No, no, I see your point," he said, taking two hands off his face and peeking through the other two. "I guess I'm just feeling like ever since we got it to turn on, we've been stuck at a stalemate." He dropped his other two hands and stared at them. "I may be trying to go at it too fast. I just want to get home so badly, and see Mama and Papa again."
"I know," (Y/n) said gently, tentatively putting her arm around him. "I do too." And it was one of the very first true things she'd ever told him.

"O. M. G. You guys are so cute!" Mary exclaimed. (Y/n) yelped, springing away from the King-in-Waiting. She'd dozed off, leaning on Krel's shoulder. "Hashtag, cutest couple of the month!"
"Buzz off," Krel said. "Go look at Steve and Aja. I bet they'll pose for you."
"Look at this!" Mary said, turning her phone towards them. "That's so perfect!"
"No!" Krel cried, reaching for the phone. Mary pulled it out of reach, fawning over the photo. "Mary, I swear-"
"Let it go," the lieutenant said sleepily. "We have more important things to worry about." Mary grinned and turned around in her seat at Señor Uhl began talking again. "Like how to become bilingual."
"Hola! Mi nombre es Krel Tarron. Como estás? Muy bien. Gracias. Blah blah blah." He rolled his eyes. "Boom. Bilingual." (Y/n) snorted then sighed, resting her head on her arms. "Are you alright?"
"Long night," she murmured.
"Señora (Y/n)," Señor Uhl snapped. She shot up in her seat, sweeping her hair out of her face. "Falling asleep in my class? You are just asking for detention."
"Give me something to do with my life," she said. Señor Uhl paused and she laid her head back down. "I'm open if you wanna hand me a slip."
"I'll think of a more suitable punishment," the Spanish teacher said, turning back to the blackboard.
After school, (Y/n) trudged out the doors, practically falling asleep as she walked. She'd stayed up all night, thinking about her predicament.
Life back on Akiridion 5 was rough for her. Zadra pushed her hard to become the best warrior she could be, and though her mother had tough love for her, the lieutenant had always felt she would never be enough for Zadra.
So she went to Morando. She thought he could help her become more than she was. So he trained her. No one in his army knew who she was, and she knew about Varvatos Vex's traitorous actions.
And Zadra didn't know. (Y/n) wasn't popular among most Akiridions, just the warrior that stood out, both in skill and in character. She just didn't fit in, and Zadra didn't seem to notice, especially not after her assignment to the royals.
(Y/n) had pledged her service to them, but they didn't seem to care, or to need her. She was just another tool to be used and discarded, and she had resolved not to be like her mother, working for the entitled royals.
So she switched her loyalties to General Morando. And now she was here, on Earth, aiming to assassinate the royals.
But now, she was afraid she had spent a little too much time getting close to them. Now, she actually wanted to have a girl's night out with Mary, Shannon and Aja. Now she wanted to have a double date with Steve, Aja, and Krel.
And what was worse, those feelings that she'd been trying to avoid developing for the King-in-Waiting were growing.
"It's this stupid thing called emotion and I hate it," she snarled quietly. "And I hate pretending that it's not real but then I hate pretending that it's real." She groaned, digging her hands into her hair. The thought was keeping her up at night, and much as she tried to deny it, it was what was stealing her precious sleep. "Ugh. Fine.
"I think...I think I'm falling in love."
