Poem: Touch and Go

Running around in circles
As snow piles in heaps
Hoping for fresh miracles
Playing for keeps

Intending to go the distance
In a touch and go society
Putting up resistance
To the status quo notoriety

Fooling myself most of the time
Impostor syndrome never
Confidence pumping even as I mime
Real and unreal melded together

50 yards down the track
A sprint to the finish at the end
Fresh strength just off the rack
As I rush around the bend

Many have gone before me
And many more will come behind
There's never a day we're totally free
Or a moment we truly escape the grind

Years will pass, touch and go
Planned and unplanned alike
Best be the one in the know
The one who holds the mic
