Heaven POV

"Hey wassup?" I answered Josh's phone call.
"Have you talked to Laila?" He asks me.
"No. I actually haven't talked to her since Saturday. Why? What's going on?" I asked.
"Man I don't even know. She got a nigga stressing." He says.
"Alright Josh calm down and tell me what happened." I was concern because of the tone in his voice.
"She ran out my house yesterday morning and I've been blowing her phone up since then. I still haven't heard from her. Bruh Heav, she looked scared like someone was after her. What am I supposed to do as her man?" He explained to me.
"Wait yesterday was Sunday. Lai don't believe in Sunday morning cause she sleep through the whole morning." I said aloud but it was actually a thought.
"Exactly my point. She ran out of here before 7:25 even hit." He says.
"Okay that ain't even right. I'll try to get to the bottom of this." I promised him.
"Thanks Heav, how are you?" He questions and I mentally sighed.
"Josh I am currently at lunch with my-" He cut me off.
"Heaven I'm serious. My brother is lock up and I know y'all have some special. Just like how you listened about yo sister and my feelings towards what's going on, I'm gon listen to you." He says.
"Josh just not right now." I pleaded. I haven't cried yet but I felt the tears trying to come out. My baby daddy is locked up.
"Iight. Gon and eat and feed my nephew." He says.
"What you talking bout?"
"I know a pregnant woman when I see her." He chuckled.
"Does he even know?" He asks.
"He does now." I shrugged.
"How he-" I cut him off this time.
"Bye Josh. I'll call when I find up what's up." I said then hung up and sighed.

"You okay?" Jay asked me. "Fine." I smile at her. "What's going on with Laila?" She asked. "I don't know. But I need to find out." I sighed just as our food came.

-

"Em, can I talk to you in my office please?" I asked as I passed but by her. "Of course." She followed me into my office.

"Have you talked to Lai since Saturday?" I asked her and she shook her head no so I sighed. "Is she in trouble?" She asks. "I hope not." I placed my elbows on my desk and put my face in my hands.

"Heaven really, are you okay?" I heard her get up then felt her hand rub my back. I shook my head no and heard her sigh. "I think you should just go home. You don't have any more clients today, just go home and chill out. You've been working yourself these past few weeks plus yesterday and today. You need some rest." I picked my face up and wiped my tears.

"My boss too pretty to cry." She says and I laughed. "Thanks love." She hugged me. "No problem. Go home and get some rest. Then when you wake up and if ya feeling well rested, figure out what's going on with my sister." "I will." She gave me a reassuring smile then left my office.

I took a couple of minutes to collect myself before getting my things together to leave. After packing, I tried Laila but after she ain't answer the 15th time I stopped trying. To be honest, I was about to break down again. But instead, I said a prayer to God asking Him to watch my bestfriend, my sister. And to also give my strength to bare a healthy baby and to show me how to handle my boyfriend who's currently in a prison.

After telling Kevin I had a family emergency and needed to leave, I left the office building and headed home. Emily was right, I have been pushing myself with cases, clients, and paper work. So a nice rest is much needed. Not for me, but my body and child.

"Laila please. I need you to answer the phone babe. You starting to scare us. Call me." I sighed leaving another voicemail.

"Hallandale High School, how may I help you?" A female answered the phone.
"Good Afternoon, I was calling to see if I can talk to Ms. Laila Jerome?" I questioned with hope.
"I'm sorry, she's not in today. Can I get your message?" She asks.
"No thank you. Thanks for your time."
"You're welcome ma'am have a wonderful day." She says. I sighed and hung up.
