'ZIM, to the principals office, NOW!' Ms Bitters yelled, her voice snapping everyone's attention towards her as she glared at Zim with rage behind her glasses.

'Yes, Ms Bitters...' Zim groaned, getting up from his desk lazily as he walked over to the door,  slouching as he proceeded to walk out into the hallway as all our eyes watched. Once the sound of Zim's feet echoing through the room began to fade out, the sound was replaced by a snickering Dib who was seated a few desks away from mine. I sat in the second row right beside Zita, my best friend, and directly diagonal from Zim, who might I mention, was my absolute biggest crush.

Yes, I had fallen head over heels for the classroom bad boy, but who could blame me? He was so different from everyone else, and I don't entirely mean that in the sense of him having green skin, no nose and no ears, but rather more in the context of his personality. He was just so... peculiar, his mysterious personality drew me in like a moth to a lamp and I just didn;t have the strength in me to pull away. These past few weeks have been hard ever since our seating arrangement was changed and I was forced to sit where I currently am now. Since then, I've been noticing Zim more and more every day, growing more attached to him than I thought I would be. However, my biggest problem is that because I'm so nervous to talk to him, I've been dropping little hints towards him, ranging from things like giving him a small poem in his locker, letting him borrow my pen if he doesn't have one, low-key flirting with him when we were paired together for a science project, laughing at his jokes, just small little things to make him notice. But whenever I give out those hints, he never seems to respect my efforts. Either that, or it just doesn't really ever occur to him that I'm interested.

Regardless, I slouch in my chair as I watch him leave the room, my eyes following his movements as Zita observes my behavior. Zita has been my best friend for a few years now, and we are more than happy to tell each other anything and everything, so she of course knows about my overwhelming crush on Zim.

'Psst!'

Pulling me out of my trance, I turn my head over to face where the sound came from as an anxious Zita looks at me with a smile, leaning close to my direction in her chair.

'When are you ever going to tell him?' She whispered, cocking her head to one side.

'I will... I just...' my chest let out a heavy sigh as my mind began to wonder.

'What is it?' She asked curiously.

'Well... what if he rejects me?' I confess, hanging my head low as I let my hair cover the sides of my face.

'What? Why on Earth would he reject you?' She questioned in a whisper-shouting voice. 'Look at you; you're beautiful! Not only that, but you're smart, and funny...'

'... I am?'

'Of course!' She adds, placing an arm on my shoulder as I look up at her. 'Listen, you know how I'm throwing a party saturday night, right?'

'Yeah...?' I responded, trailing off at the end as she gave me a smug look, causing the realization of what she was about to say to hit be like a brick. 'No, no no no, don't say it!'

'What if I-'

'No!' I replied awkwardly, burying my head in my hands in embarrassment.

'Why not? It's the perfect opportunity to hang out with him!' She reassured, flashing me a gentle smile. Tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, my eyes glanced over to her in shame as my cheeks started to blush. 'Besides, it's my party, and you can't stop me!' She added playfully, crossing her arms over her chest as she gave me a prideful smile.
