A couple of weeks later you were all winding down from midterms. You had been on edge, studying as much as you could. So much so that you had canceled on Asher the last two weeks before testing in order to cram in as much study time as you could. You felt bad but instead of visits you had FaceTimed in the evenings before bed.

At lunch, though at first you ignored it while you waited for food, your phone went off a bunch which was unusual. You figured it was Yui sending you some pictures like normal and thought little of it as you took your usual seat beside Uraraka.

"I think Yui sent me some more pictures," you told her as you pulled your phone out. "Wanna see them?"

"Of course!" She nodded eagerly, stopping when she saw your frown. "What's up?"

"Something is wrong. I'll just be a minute," you frowned at your phone, punching in the familiar speed dial as you left the cafeteria.

Come on, pick up. The phone rang a few more times before her chipper voicemail sounded in your ears. You hung up and tried again only to be met with the same results. You tried the house phone. Same results. Dammit!

You were bursting through the door to the teacher's lounge at full speed before you knew it. "Y/N!" Midnight hollered.

"What's the meaning of this?" Cementoss, usually calm and collected, was even startled by your abrupt entry.

"No time," you paced in front of Mr Aizawa, the stares of all the teachers weighing on you. "I need to go. Somethings wrong."

"What's goi-"

"Asher's mom. She just called. Back to back." You panted, as near to panic as you could be without going into hysterics. "But she's not answering now."

"You need to calm down," Aizawa stood. "I'm sure there's a rational reason to her not picking up."

"You don't understand!" You raked your fingers through your hair roughly. "She knows I'm in school right now. I prefer texting. Even at lunch. So why?" You searched Aizawa's tired eyes for an answer. "I need to go. Please."

"I'm sure she is just busy," Cemontoss commented. "She'll return your call shortly."

"No," you sucked down a deep breath. "She always answers if I call right back. I only missed her call by about thirty seconds. That's it. And she never calls multiple times in a row unless it's an emergency."

"Call her again."

"Call her again," you repeated as you nodded, tears brimmed your eyes. Speaker, you commanded yourself, put it on speaker.

You've reached Yui's cell leave a message!

"I need to go," you rushed for the door again.

"Wait!" The sternness in your teacher's voice was the only reason your feet betrayed you. "It can wait until after classes."

Silently you tried Yui's cell again. Just in case you told yourself. When the ringing stopped you thought maybe the call dropped but it hadn't. Even on speaker you could barely make out the faint breathing on the other end.

"Y/N." Her voice was just barely a whisper.

"Yui? Thank God, is everything okay? You weren't answering."

"Hurry." The line went dead.

You shook your head fiercely, knuckles white as you brought your fists up to your mouth, surprising a wail. "You're staying here," Aizawa stated, ushering you towards Midnight before heading for the door. "You're too emotionally involved."
