The Power Within
Flashback
Neverland
(Day 2)

"You have potential, Luna," he lets out, walking behind me to sit on a log.

He stares out at the unlit bonfire, his back toward me.

I throw up my hands, "I know."

He lets out a low chuckle, shaking his head, "you know, I think one day you could rule beside me."

"And why would I want to do that?" I ask as I walk up behind him.

"Because power attracts all living beings."

I purse my lips as I sit down beside him on the log.

He turns to me and smirks, "you and I are a lot alike in that area."

"No," I let out a humorous breath, "no we're not. You know why?"

He raises his eyebrow for an answer.

"Because I don't need reassurance from others to know I'm powerful," I say as I get closer to his face.

He clenches his jaw then looks away from me. I knew I hit something close to home.

I smirk and ask, "and you think I can rule beside you?"

He turns to look at me. His forest green eyes burned with anger.

"Oh, love..." I shake my head and give him a fake melancholy look, "I could rule over you if I really wanted to."

A sudden force upon my neck signaled that he had grabbed on and wasn't planning to let go anytime soon.

"You are under my rule!" He yelled as he stood up and backed into a tree, taking me with him, "and nothing will change that."

"Pan," a deep monotone voice announces behind him.

We both look in the direction the voice hailed, seeing Felix with the other lost boys behind them.

Pan looks back at me and I smile. He lets go and turns to his boys.

"Games are cancelled for today," he states calmly.

The boys let out a groan, causing an idea to form in my head.

My voice breaks through the dead silence, "If I were leader I would let you guys play..."

Everyone turns to me as I stay in place. I shared a look with Pan, whose face was red in anger.

"You boys need to stand up for yourselves," I start, "do what you think is right."

My back leaves the tree, the bark sticking to my clothes for a moment, as I walk toward the boys.

"Come with me and I'll show you what a real leader is," I say crossing my arms.

The boys share looks between each other, thinking if it's a good idea to go against Pan.

Suddenly, the boy with red hair steps up next to me.

I look at him with shock. I didn't think that would even work.

Next, a smaller boy with dirty blonde hair steps forward. Then another...and another...and another. Until there were about half of the boys on my side and half the boys on Pan's side.

Pan was speechless. His jaw was clenched as Felix looked at him, waiting for his next move.

I raised my left eyebrow at the boy. If looks could kill, I'd be six feet under right now.

"What's the next move, boss?" The redhead asks from my side.

Without taking my eyes off of Pan, I say, "let's play some games."

It felt like hours had passed. My boys chose to play hide and seek on the beach as Pan's boys had to stay at camp and discuss how to get their group back.

It was getting late, so I decided to round up all the boys and take them back to camp.

Upon my arrival, Felix and Pan were waiting around the fire as the rest of their boys slept.

"Go to your tents," I told the boys and they dispersed to their sleeping quarters.

I looked at Pan as the fire burned in front of him. Felix sat next to him, giving me creepy looks as always.

I walked up to the two and sat down across from them, "can I help you?"

"Why would you take my boys from me?" Pan asks as he smiles and shakes his head.

"Why not," I smile, "they like me better anyway."

Felix keeps his emotionless expression as Pan continues to chuckle.

"I mean come on Pan, don't you want to do what's best for your boys?" I ask.

"I'm best for my boys," he says through gritted teeth.

I roll my eyes, "Okay. Sure you are. That's probably why half of them ran to me for your replacement."

"I'm sick of this disrespect!" Pan yells as he stands up.

I chuckled at his sudden outburst, "Need I remind you that you're the only reason I'm still here?"

Felix stands up next to Pan as he stares at me.

"Got anything to say, sidekick?" I ask him.

He rolls his eyes and smirks in response, "I'm not a sidekick."

"Pan was more willing to run this island with me than you," I laugh as I stand up, "so what does that tell you?"

Felix wipes his smirk off his face and turns to Pan. But he refuses to make eye contact. Felix looked down to the ground as Pan continued to stare at me.

"What's the matter, Peter?" I pout, "did I hurt his feelings?"

Felix's head bolts up and he quickly runs to me with a dagger out.

Unprepared for the attack, I put my arms up in defense, accidentally throwing Felix against a nearby tree with my powers.

I look at Felix as he stays unmoving. I was breathing heavily as I retracted my hands to look at them.

Green light was shining through my palms.

I look up at Pan as he stares at me in shock. I look back at Felix to see him trying to get back up.

I sigh in relief then turn around and run into the forest.

I couldn't put anyone else in danger here, no matter what. I needed to learn how to control myself.
